We love the name Sadie but have had comments that it’s a popular dogs name, so I was wondering if you agree?

Aside from that, what do you think of the name? Others we like are

Imogen
Ianthe
Cicely

Thanks!

Sadie is a great name.

No dogs known with that name.

mogtheexcellent · 28/02/2020 19:07

As far as I know shep, buster, fluffikins and sooty are dog names. Sadie is a human name.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 28/02/2020 19:03

Love love love Sadie. Considered it for ds.

Then my ds has one as his gf. Brilliant!

Juanbablo · 28/02/2020 18:56

I love the name Sadie. I only know a girl and a woman called Sadie, no dogs.

Quizeerascal · 28/02/2020 18:39

It could be a dogs name but then so could lots of names, Max, Jack, Holly, Poppy, Oscar etc and they still make great names for humans too. I like all your name suggestions although I think Ianthe might be misspelled/mispronounced

Twelve8Ts · 28/02/2020 18:07

@bridgetreilly Thank you! Yeah I love Cicely too.

I do like Sadie, but I love Cicely.

The dog comment is nonsense.

FishCanFly · 27/02/2020 14:19

Peachypips78 · 26/02/2020 19:03

My cat is called Sadie Grin

DramaAlpaca · 26/02/2020 18:54

I only know a human Sadie.

Zogtastic · 26/02/2020 18:51

We’ve met loads of people who say that their dog or a dog they know has the same name as our toddler. Given the average dog life span, I figure by the time she’s old enough to care it won’t be a big issue. It’s definitely a human name given to a dog rather than a canine name like fluffy. People choose names they think are lovely for their dogs as well as their children. If it makes your heart sing - go for it!

Squitface · 26/02/2020 18:47

People always say my daughter's nick name is a dog's name. But she prefers Flossie to Florence. What other people think - who cares? She owns it.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 26/02/2020 18:42

Sadie is fine but I absolutely love Ianthe; one of my most favourite names of all time and you don't often hear it. I like all your other choices too.

Poorolddaddypig · 26/02/2020 18:27

Love Sadie!

MartyrGuacamole · 26/02/2020 18:26

My auntie's dog is called Sadie. Never met a human one! I seem to be in the minority though Smile

I don't know any dog Sadies. Are you sure the person just doesn't like the name so they're coming out with some bullshit to put you off? In any case, it's hardly Fido, is it?! Some names work for people and dogs but it doesn't make them dog names. Winston, for example, is really common for bulldogs, but still works perfectly well as a person name.

TheVanguardSix · 26/02/2020 14:27

I LOVE the name Sadie.
Dog owner, big-time doggy lover here. Never met a canine Sadie. You're safe as houses, OP. Wink

Floribundance · 26/02/2020 14:00

I know an Irish terrier Sadie and I considered it as a name for my current dog.

Disfordarkchocolate · 26/02/2020 13:58

Human to me. I immediately thought of 'Sadie the Bra Lady.' It's a lovely name.

bloodywhitecat · 26/02/2020 13:56

DD had a friend called Sadie, never met a dog version though.

toffeeghirl · 26/02/2020 13:53

I know two adults and two children called Sadie. No dogs.

Lllot5 · 26/02/2020 13:19

I know a Mercedes that gets called Sadie.
I like Cicely. She will speak very nicely and wear hats I think. 😀
