Louis is the monkey in the Jungle Book.

Louis or Oliver much better for actual people.

NoSauce · 27/02/2020 16:33

Louis.

Whatsyourflava · 27/02/2020 16:24

Love both Ollie and Louie xx

Nonnymum · 27/02/2020 16:13

Rachel246 I Louis is pronounced loo ee. If it is pronounced with an s it is spelt Lewis.

Nonnymum · 27/02/2020 16:11

If you decide to go with the first choice I think you should spell it Louis as that is the traditional way to spell in the UK. . Is Louie an American spelling?

Quizeerascal · 27/02/2020 16:04

Louis

Grandmi · 27/02/2020 15:49

Louis

Rachel246 · 27/02/2020 15:11

Louie

I pronounce Louis as Lou-is.

Mamabear88 · 27/02/2020 12:58

Louie

TatianaLarina · 27/02/2020 12:50

Yep the German pronounces it Looees as I said.

I have never disputed the s is pronounced in German, that is apparent from my phonetic spelling.

Grufallosfriends · 27/02/2020 08:24

Try this one:

de.forvo.com/word/louis/

Anyway, the main point is that the S in Louis is pronounced!

Grufallosfriends · 26/02/2020 19:03

No the German pronunciation of Louis is Loo is.

Maybe they say Loo ees in Italian or Spanish?

JollyGiraffe12 · 26/02/2020 18:38

Louie or better still Louis

TatianaLarina · 26/02/2020 18:37

They’re American. Although St Louis and Louisiana were originally the French speaking part of the south (as New Orleans).

TatianaLarina · 26/02/2020 18:35

The German pronunciation is Looees not Lewis.

Grufallosfriends · 26/02/2020 18:27

Louis is pronounced Lou-is in Germany. It's quite popular there.

I too prefer Louie in an English speaking environment and I don't need to prove my education level by choosing the French spelling!

The inhabitants of St Louis in Missouri are all very uneducated then, they say Lou-is ShockShock!

MikeUniformMike · 26/02/2020 17:33

Oops, I meant Lewison, Louie for short. That darn' @TatianaLariana encouraging me to have a prosecco moment.

MikeUniformMike · 26/02/2020 17:31

Wouldn't you prefer, you know, a proper Sunday name to go on the BC, just in case he becomes a High Court Judge?

I suggest Lewison, Louis for short or perhaps you could go for something a bit more international with a Scandi theme and go Luissen, nn Louie.

Or, go a bit yoonique and call him Lui or Looee.

BadCatDirtyCat · 26/02/2020 17:12

I prefer Louie (and don't feel I have to prove how sophisticated my friends are via my baby name choice Wink)

TatianaLarina · 26/02/2020 13:46

Shock Wine

MikeUniformMike · 26/02/2020 12:03

Oh Tat! Smile I agree with you

TatianaLarina · 26/02/2020 11:57

Have a look at the statistics from the government. Louie is most definitely a boys name! In fact more boys were named Louie than Louis last year!

All the government statistics tell you is that there people who either don’t know Louis is pronounced Louie or have to flag it phonetically for their circle.

Louie is basically Louis for people with lower education levels.

whatareyoucooking · 26/02/2020 09:48

Louis definitely

MikeUniformMike · 26/02/2020 09:42

Louis is much better than Louie. Louie looks like you can't spell.
