I'm expecting a second child and struggling with name ideas. Not sure of the gender yet but would like something unique that you don't find often. My husband is a botanist which is why we called our daughter Sequoiadendron (Sequoia for short!) and we're looking for something similar that's plant related.
Thanks in advance for the help fellow mums!! :)

You know you are gong to get a lot of people copying you now. @claudethelad.

ravenmum · 26/02/2020 11:29

Good luck to you and the rest of the McPlantface clan 👍

Hello everyone! This is OP, unfortunately I lost the password to my original account haha. Thank you for all the wonderful suggestions, Rhododendron was particularly good and is what my husband and I are likely going to call him/her. I must say, the number of people insulting our DD's name is incredibly hurtful as this isn't a joke and sequoia trees have a great amount of sentimental value to us both, although some replies were rather funny :D.

Thank you for all the help xx

@Bluetrews25 I bet you have a right pain with Scaphoid healing when she hurts herself 😂

CatkinToadflax · 26/02/2020 09:22

^ may I suggest my own name as something suitably botanical. Wink Or Leylandii, but only if your family has the tall gene.

My lawyer friend’s daughter’s name is WednesburyUnreasonable.

My DH is a fundraising manager so our DC are Philanthropy, Chugger and ProfessionalBeggar.

iklboo · 26/02/2020 07:55

dd picked a name for one of her D&D online characters from a plant catalogue and I always thought it would make a great name for a girl: Agastache

fishonabicycle · 26/02/2020 07:41

Very funny OP!

fishonabicycle · 26/02/2020 07:40

Hahaha!

Roomba · 26/02/2020 07:09

I'd just been made redundant when DS2 arrived. Universal Credit Smith is such a lovely little lad Grin

Roomba · 26/02/2020 07:08

*According to the U.K. government site, (google maximum name length) the dvla only accept full names with total letters

BarbaraofSeville · 26/02/2020 07:00

^Cringe

Pretentious^

Those are great names, but I can't quite work out your DHs profession for the context.

GoFiguire · 26/02/2020 06:57

My DB is an accountant. We went NC after he called his twins Profit and Loss. Poor little mites.

FenellaMaxwell · 26/02/2020 06:52

I work for the NHS. Little MRSA is 6 now. AIBU to be annoyed her teacher keeps pronouncing it Marissa?

TheLarkDescending · 25/02/2020 23:55

I wish I was an economist. I quite fancy having triplets called Alpha, Bear and Ceteris Paribus.

ErrolTheDragon · 25/02/2020 23:48

My dh is a health and safety manager so naturally we called our sons Iosh and Nebosh

Those sound weirdly Old Testament.Grin

pallisers · 25/02/2020 23:42

It was on our shortlist, pallisers

in fairness to you, it is the Archie of the IT world. Well done you for going for something a bit different.

SpruceTree · 25/02/2020 23:36

Ragwort. Beautiful name and gender neutral.

ThunderPython · 25/02/2020 23:34

How about Sticky Willy for a boy?

If I were drinking tea it would have been spat all over the screen!

ThunderPython · 25/02/2020 23:31

@Flutteringsatlast

I went with Vax and Karcher for my 2.

Kanga83 · 25/02/2020 23:22

I'm amazed no one has suggestion the classic 90s name of Princess Consuela banana-hammock yet, Nn Cici.

Tinty · 25/02/2020 23:10

Stinging Nettle

Hirsutefirs · 25/02/2020 23:09

And Piss-the-bed can be handily shortened to “The.”

TatianaLarina · 25/02/2020 23:08

Of course it’s a joke!
