OH and I think we have finally settled on a name, however it's quite uncommon so I was hoping for some opinions please :) our surname starts with an "L" and is 3 syllables long (so fairly long!) The name is

Eron Mathew James

What do you think?
Thank you x

Too much like Erin

Whatsyourflava · 26/02/2020 20:29

Eric is a great name. Or Aaron.

Don’t like Eron - the scenario above described by @gokartdillydilly would be a regular occurrence and would annoy me x

MikeUniformMike · 26/02/2020 20:18

It's actually a serious suggestion. I really like it.
Wren, Linnet and Lark are often suggested but a heron is so striking.

JollyGiraffe12 · 26/02/2020 20:13

I don’t care for Eron - neither does my phone - autocorrected to Enron then Erin then Eros....Matthew and James are perfectly lovely

CLivvy · 26/02/2020 19:55

@MikeUniformMike thanks for your input

MikeUniformMike · 26/02/2020 19:39

Herons are amazing.

gokartdillydilly · 26/02/2020 19:13

I've got a name that has multiple spellings. It is a pain in the ass OP. I'm 51, and wish my parents had named me something with no variation. Constantly along the lines of: How are you spelling that? Or, Is that Aaron? Or, Did you say Eron? Is that Eeron? Hello can I speak to Aaron please. Oh you're a woman, that's an unusual name. It's a daily occurrence.

CLivvy · 26/02/2020 18:52

@MikeUniformMike why would I do that? 🤨

MikeUniformMike · 26/02/2020 18:33

Call him Heron

CLivvy · 26/02/2020 18:10

@peachypetite I believe it's Hebrew meaning "peace" 😊

Starryskiesinthesky · 23/02/2020 16:50

Not heard of it before but it sounds fine. I know of an Eroni.

peachypetite · 23/02/2020 16:50

Is Eron made up?

mytypeonpaper · 23/02/2020 16:46

I much prefer Eron than Arron. Much nicer!

FakeFraudSquad · 23/02/2020 16:40

Don’t like it, it simultaneously reminds me of the girls name Erin and the Enron Scandal.

Sorry! Your middle names are lovely though. I’d agree, Arron, Aaron much better.

Whatsyourflava · 23/02/2020 16:36

Mathew and James are lovely

I’d definitely consider Aaron otherwise he will be forever correcting people

CLiv5417 · 23/02/2020 16:32

Thank you everyone,

And Mathew will be spelt with one T as that's my dads name and how his name is spelt :)

I can't say this enough ...

It really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks about the name you've chosen for you child. At the end of the day, it's all just a bunch of letters. It doesn't matter. As long as you like it.

sorryiasked · 23/02/2020 15:57

It's ok, Eben would be my preference though (and I'd spell Matthew with two "t's"

colinsleftnipple · 23/02/2020 15:55

I know an Eren, Oren and Aran - all boys.

I like your name too.

DramaAlpaca · 23/02/2020 15:54

It sounds like someone who drops their aitches saying 'heron'.

But that said, I don't mind it.

Hoodygoody111 · 23/02/2020 15:52

I don’t like Eron. Looks like a star-wars name

CocoW · 23/02/2020 15:51

I've not heard it before, its unique but due to the spelling is easily read/said.
I like it 🥰

IckleBear · 23/02/2020 15:47

Don't like it.. Matthew and James are fine.

user1493494961 · 23/02/2020 15:03

Matthew and James are nice, Eron is awful, and seems to be made up. I would use Aaron.

GetTheSprinkles · 23/02/2020 11:32

Reminds me of Erin, the girl's name meaning Ireland
