Really like.

Whatsyourflava · 21/02/2020 13:24

I really dislike it

Don’t like nickname Nay either. Horse like
Just hasn’t got a nice sound to it x

Dogsaresomucheasier · 21/02/2020 09:51

Only families I have known it used are fundamentalist Christians, but it is lovely!

My most hated name , sounds so twee.

EmmaJR1 · 21/02/2020 07:30

My beautiful daughter is called Naomi- she's 1.5 years.
We do get NIGH-omi but I correct them if I know the person and ignore it if not.

Her nn tends to be Na-mi or her brother just calls her B (he couldn't say baby or Naomi when she was born.) 😆

Grufallosfriends · 21/02/2020 07:23

I don't like it at all. I hate the Nay sound! It sounds like No in several languages.

Nah omi sounds a little better but I'm still not keen on the name.

zurigirl · 20/02/2020 23:50

One of my least favourite names... but that's because of association so I'm biased!

The shortened 'Nay' form particularly grates on me though.

Astronica · 20/02/2020 22:59

I'm not keen on it. And the Nye pronunciation which so many people use drives me crazy.

Confusednewmum1 · 20/02/2020 22:19

I love this I think it’s made my list

Nancydrawn · 20/02/2020 21:57

The story of Naomi and Ruth is one of my favorites in the Bible (I like to read it as empowering, not as patriarchal.) Ruth 1:16 is a gorgeous piece of writing.

Love it. Well known but unusual enough to be interesting. It was definitely on my list.

DrivingMsCrazy · 20/02/2020 21:22

I really like it. My friend is a 'nay' but the 2 little ones I know are pronounced 'nye'. I prefer the nay myself.

KindKylie · 20/02/2020 21:10

I think it's lovely :)

RedRed9 · 20/02/2020 21:07

I like it. I’ve never heard the nickname Mimi for it but I think that that is very cute too.

MikeUniformMike · 20/02/2020 20:56

Not keen. dislike the way some say Nigh-Oh-me

MrsApplepants · 20/02/2020 20:55

Fab name. Beautiful

hannahfaith · 20/02/2020 20:53

I love it, I know a little girl called Naomi she's about 3-4 years old and it's the sweetest name

MrsH497 · 20/02/2020 20:51

As a Naomi - mostly love my name don't know many others. Wasn't until I was older anyone picked up I moan is the backwards spelling. Be prepared for no one pronouncing it or spelling it correctly!
Means delightful 🙂

hauntedvagina · 20/02/2020 20:48

It's I moan backwards. Lovely name but be prepared for people commenting on this every time she cries!

missmouse101 · 20/02/2020 20:33

I like it but the idiots who pronounce it incorrectly would drive me mad. Also love Neroli.

Womenwotlunch · 20/02/2020 20:32

One of my favourite names.
As another poster said, you may have to cope with the incorrect pronunciation of the name.

Charis1503 · 20/02/2020 20:30

Hate it with a passion. Probably my most detested name.

Also infuriating when people pronounce it 'nye-o-mee' not 'nay-o-mee'

IVflytrap · 20/02/2020 20:28

I really like it. It's a well-known name with a long history but unusual for this generation. I also think it's very pretty.

I knew the English were bad but I wouldnt even have thought off that one.

Hmm It's literally the first syllable of the name. I don't personally like Nay, but still, it's an obvious shortening that people might fall back. We terrible English also shorten William to Will, Daniel to Dan and Louise to Lou. Shocking, I know.
