What do you think?

It's that or Evangeline...

Diminutive used for an Evangeline in my last employment - Vag.

Because many kids will not see or be able to pronounce E-Van-ge-line - they'll see E-Vag-line and say Vaglin.

Callista would be more likely pronounced Klister.

Local accents and standards of education/literacy make a difference.

diddlediddle · 23/02/2020 21:27

Calista blister?! Oh come on, you can rhyme any name with random words! If kids want to tease someone they'll think of anything. If they don't, they won't. Blister isn't even that offensive? Don't pay any attention to that.

CassandrasCastle · 23/02/2020 20:16

Callista. Blister. I guess in my Scottish accent I pronounce the end r of blister a bit so it's different, but I'm in England not Scotland so..

@FenellaMaxwell I was going to say it sounds like something you need cream for, but I think you might have nailed it!

Frangelinajolie · 23/02/2020 18:08

I find both to be very pretty. Only thing that ever so slightly puts me off Calista is the possibility for school kids to tease "Calista blister"

Calista - lovely and unusual, cute nns

TatianaLarina · 21/02/2020 20:04

Yeh. It’s evangelist - vagina - Vaseline. None of this is good.

daisypond · 21/02/2020 20:02

For me, the reason I prefer Callista is that I actively dislike Evangeline. Too flowery, too many soft sounds, too openly religious, too Victorian (therefore many years out of date for that style of name), too bland when shortened to the inevitable Evie. But these might be reasons why you like it.

CassandrasCastle · 21/02/2020 19:56

Really interested that so many prefer Callista to Evangeline.

Overall I like the sound and feel of Evangeline better, but Callista has better shortenings and I think is somehow cooler 🙈 and so would probably prefer my daughter to be called it? I THINK?

Much prefer Callista.

Junobug · 21/02/2020 19:48

I love it. I knew someone with a pet spider called Callista and have always thought it was beautiful. I equally think Evangeline is a beautiful name but I think it's a shame to shorten it to Evie, which she would get.

Mollie3 · 21/02/2020 19:36

@DjMomo I’ve never heard it before! But knew one lovely Callie

Mollie3 · 21/02/2020 19:35

Love this name so pretty not too girly and quite uncommon
Nice shortened to Callie too
Don’t let negativity put I off it! X

CassandrasCastle · 21/02/2020 17:55

Calista is overused?? 🙊

I love Calista!

Mummyeyes · 20/02/2020 20:01

Love Callista.

Also Angela, Anjali but not Evangeline as too many Evies.

DjMomo · 20/02/2020 20:00

Calista is overused now. I would go for Kallisto.

TotesGodsWill · 20/02/2020 19:54

Really like Calista and Callie, much nicer than Evangeline

notalwaysalondoner · 20/02/2020 17:58

I LOVE Calista.
