What does everyone think about naming a baby boy Marnie? Is it just for girls? Opinions 😊

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

It’s no different from the fad of giving girls boys names, both are equally horrible!

Elbeagle · 16/02/2020 17:06

How is it any different from the current fad of giving girls boy's names

I don’t like that either.

Letthemysterybe · 16/02/2020 17:04

I wouldn’t.

What about
Marley
Riley
Ferdie
Ashley

Costacoffeeplease · 16/02/2020 17:02

Might as well call him Sue and be done with it

Mamabear88 · 16/02/2020 16:58

Nope. No matter how you spell it it's a girl's name.

kazza446 · 16/02/2020 16:54

What about mannie? I know a young boy called mannie. He’s quite a cool kid

TatianaLarina · 16/02/2020 16:52

Please don’t call him Marmaduke.

ShesGotBetteDavisEyes · 16/02/2020 16:51

or Marty?

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 16/02/2020 16:51

Please don't. Call him Marmaduke and use Marmie as a NN.

ShesGotBetteDavisEyes · 16/02/2020 16:50

If you like more androgynous names what about:
Jamie
Ashley
Ryley
Sacha
Lucien
Tyler
Etc...can be used for either sex. Marnie is just a girls name IMO.

DarningKittens · 16/02/2020 16:46

There are two boy Marnies in one of the infant years at school and no girls.

MyNewBearTotoro · 16/02/2020 16:45

You could potentially use it as a nickname - maybe for Martin or Marvin. Definitely not a good stand alone name for a boy.

Barney or Arnie are similar sounding alternatives.

Will this definitely be your last/ only child? If not I would try and find a boys name you love and save Marnie for a potential future daughter, or failing that even a future potential pet.

TatianaLarina · 16/02/2020 16:41

Marley or Marlowe

TatianaLarina · 16/02/2020 16:40

It’s funny (I mean grim) that girls can be given boys’ names but boys cannot be given girls’ names point blank.

dementedma · 15/02/2020 22:17

Marnie is a girl’s name.

marlin?
Martin?
Manny?
Marvin?
Arnie?

SanFranBear · 15/02/2020 22:09

I like it, OP.

AcrobaticCardigan · 15/02/2020 22:09

Absolutely not!!!!

IVflytrap · 15/02/2020 22:05

No, but first thought was Marley could work instead. Or Marty? Harley? Charlie?

Autumnsloth · 15/02/2020 22:04

No, definitely a girl's name

Willow2017 · 15/02/2020 21:55

Nope its a girls name.
Also one of Hitchcocks best films, about a woman!

TenShortStories · 15/02/2020 21:46

I know a male Marney (spelt this way) in his 70's!

He is married to a woman with a unisex name so they constantly get people muddling them up when they are first getting to know them! Other than that I don't think he has any issues with it being a 'girl's' name.

Nowayorhighway · 15/02/2020 21:40

No.

ironicname · 15/02/2020 21:38

Spell it however you want, 99% of the time it been oral/aural and everyone will hear a girls name.

whywhywhy6 · 15/02/2020 21:02

No you can’t.
