Searching for a name for Sylvie’s sister. Middle name will be Margaret or Marianne.

What does everyone think of Clover?

I love it, it's beautiful! Smile

Roll me over, in the clover, roll me over in the clover do it again

Please don't do it, OP.

The Lord Mayor of Sydney is called Clover Moore, which is how I first discovered the name. I love it for the images of nature it creates in my head, but husband vetoed it for being 'ridiculous'. I'd use it

MikeUniformMike · 14/02/2020 18:08

Lovely name for a shire horse

Charlottejbt · 14/02/2020 17:58

Middle names, even! Sorry

Charlottejbt · 14/02/2020 17:57

I don't like it, but your chosen middle manes are nice. Maybe reverse it: Marianne Clover or Margaret Clover. Those sound quite glamorous.

Mamabear88 · 14/02/2020 17:48

Meh

Eleanor90 · 14/02/2020 16:29

Thanks for all the feedback! Yes, I first heard it in What Katy Did, great books!

I think it's really lovely. Nice with Sylvie too.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 14/02/2020 13:40

My first thought is it's a rabbits name in Watership down, think the rabbit in question gets eaten by a bird of prey...

I used to know a chap called Clovis which I thought was a nice name. I'm kinda on the fence with Clover, its a pet's name in my head but that probably because of the above!

isthismylifenow · 14/02/2020 13:36

It is a name of a dairy company here, so for that reason it wouldn't be one that I would consider.

ilovepuggies · 14/02/2020 13:33

I think clover is very sweet and I didn’t think any of the above thoughts.
Other names I’ve heard recently that I think are lovely are sorrel and wren.

xQueenMabx · 14/02/2020 13:32

I would never have thought of that for a name, I think its lovely!

NotNowPlzz · 14/02/2020 13:32

Adore it

Efeble1 · 14/02/2020 13:29

I absolutely love it!!

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 14/02/2020 13:28

I love Clover. It gets the cow association but I think of luck like a 4-leaf clover. I love it but a lot of people dont care for it so its onr of those love it or really strongly dislike it mames which is something to consider.

My pairing fir it is Clover Viveca.

Quadrangle · 14/02/2020 12:45

I like it as I think of the flower

TrippingOnSunshine · 14/02/2020 12:42

Love it! It's my dd1 middle name!

WoodliceInSunderland · 14/02/2020 12:39

RhymingRabbit3, A few people mentioned it in a previous thread about the name Clover and it stuck with me.
I'd like to think it would be forgotten as it's a horrible comment.

ImportantWater · 14/02/2020 12:36

I don't see Daisy or Clover as particularly dainty names either. Not like Grace or Willow.

ImportantWater · 14/02/2020 12:35

I think it is lovely. There are always comments about cows whenever Clover is mentioned but I really don't think it's an issue and it would be a shame if that put you off. There should be more Clovers in the world! It's got the word "love" in it, it's a flower, and Clover from What Katy Did was cool.

RhymingRabbit3 · 14/02/2020 12:33

"Spreads easily" hasnt been a tagline for years. I dont think it will be an issue in 15 years time!

RhymingRabbit3 · 14/02/2020 12:31

I dont really understand the cow or margarine comments. Plenty of kids called Daisy or Flora! I think Clover is nice - it you can use other flower names like Daisy, Heather, Rose, I dont see why not Clover.

inwood · 14/02/2020 12:30

No from me. Like Daisy unless the child turns out very dainty it's a name to be saddled with.

WoodliceInSunderland · 14/02/2020 12:28

I like Clover and the cow association wouldn't bother me at all.

The "spreads easily" thing might though, I can imagine that being tough as a teenage girl.
