Would you pick a name that was similar to a surname?

Think for eg Tommy Tomlinson?
I have a name name I have always loved but first half is the same as our surname, is this weird or not?

Please don't call your son Tom Thompson. There are a number of names I love that would sound stupid with our surname and so they have just had to be abandoned immediately. It's sad but just a reality of naming.

I know someone who has two DD’s called Millie and Mollie Miller. That’s fucking weird imo.

The name I like is Thomas/Tom/Tommy and the surname is very similar to the example I used.
