I'm due for twin girls in late March, both these names are ones i really like and suit their surname and my husband likes them, but i've heard other people they sound too pretentious or try-hard. What do you think?

Nice names but I wouldn't pair them up.

AliceBeckett · 11/02/2020 17:49

i've only ever known girls with these as first names, i didn't realise they were mostly male.

Both Marley and Kennedy are male names to me, I used to know a Kennedy when I lived in Scotland ...

Bezalelle · 11/02/2020 17:40

Dreadful. Sounds like the name of a grain company in the Mid-west.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 11/02/2020 17:16

Marley was what everyone was calling their puppies in the mid-noughties when that film about the dog came out.

Kennedy wouldn’t be top of my list, but it’s a truly gender neutral name if that’s a benefit to you.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 11/02/2020 17:12

I quite like the name Marley

Not overly keen on Kennedy but if its for personal reasons why not ? I also see you are in the US so pehaps its not as unusual there as it would be in the UK say.

anendhasastart · 11/02/2020 17:07

They're very different from each other and I think that's good for twins.

AliceBeckett · 11/02/2020 16:55

Marley was one because i just thought it was pretty but Kennedy was an idea because the name has just become quite important to me for personal reasons. And we live in the US.

Marley is nice, I think of it as a male name though.

Kennedy sounds very chavvy.

Are you in the UK? They sound more like American or Australian type names to me (but I could be completely wrong about that). If you like them then go ahead- they don’t sound try hard, just a bit TVish, if that makes sense?
