A middle name for Winter

Hi all,

Looking for some inspiration for a middle name to go with Winter - we don't know what we are having (due on Wednesday) but would be using this name for a little girl.

Want to avoid any flower names (Rose, Violet, Jasmine, Ivy etc.) as think it makes it sound too much like a plant. Also don't want Grace - over done and also a bit twee with Winter.

I quite like:

Winter Eden
Winter Esme
Winter Isla

Not set on any of them though!

Not looking for opinions on the name please - know it's not everyone's cup of tea and that's OK!!

Thanks in advance all!

Surprised noone has suggested "Droorzonne", traditional in northerly climates.
Grin took me a moment there.

I know 2 Winters (including a Winter Rose!) It’s a lovely name.

Nothing new to suggest, but Winter Meredith is my favourite so far.

I hope you don’t have too long to wait!

Ellmau · 16/02/2020 17:30

I would avoid any name which is also a noun or adjective with Winter.

SpeckledyHen · 16/02/2020 16:58

Why have a middle name at all ?

Rae and Ray are totally awful! How about Tamsin, Romilly, Sasha?

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 16/02/2020 14:37

Love Winter Elizabeth!

SW16 · 15/02/2020 18:52

Winter Rae (and numerous other spellings on this thread) sounds like Wintery in a Birmingham accent.

Whatsyourflava · 15/02/2020 17:32

Good luck @IrishPeaches - come on Winter!!!
(Ps love Elizabeth)

IrishPeaches · 15/02/2020 17:26

Do it @Rachelhaydenberk1 !!!

I'm 3 days overdue now and still waiting to see if I'm getting a Winter or not...

I like Winter Juliette too. Still very keen on Winter Elizabeth...

So many lovely suggestions.

I actually was thinking about this more and I really love Winter Marionna. If you dont use it, I might 😂

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 15/02/2020 16:17

Also I like (some are others suggestions)

Winter Caroline
Winter Madeline or Madeleine
Winter Giselle
Winter Alicia
Winter Vanessa
Winter Rosalind- you could do this versus Rose

I love Winter. It is hard to get the middle name because you dont want a noun.

Winter Serafina
Winter Adelie
Winter Natalie
Winter Natasha
Winter Amelie
Winter Gemma
Winter Janine
Winter Katharine
Winter Luciana
Winter Marionne
Winter Imogen
Winter Olivia
Winter Ophelia
Winter Hallie
Winter Cora
Winter Corrine
Winter Lorrine
Winter Geneve
Winter Juliette

I love some of these! The one nouny one I kinda like is Winter Pearl. Not Winter Rose please - too cheesy!!

Hepsibar · 15/02/2020 15:10

Of all the suggestions by far my favourite's are:

  1. Winter Elizabeth
  2. Winter Melody
  3. Winter Alicia (depending on your surname)

PS: I am really liking the name Winter and I have never heard it before.

Electrical · 13/02/2020 15:43

The Op says she won’t be using ‘rose’ or ‘grace’ as middle names, so why are people constantly suggesting those (boring) words? ‘Winter eve’ seriously?! ‘Winter faun’ 🤣🤣🤣

Hepsibar · 13/02/2020 14:43

Oh I see, you are actually calling the child "Winter", I thought you meant for a baby born in winter. It's new to me so just getting head around that:

Winter Thyme
Winter Spring
Winter Alicia
Winter Imogen

PS: I like RiceKrispie22 "Winter Melody" very clever and bubbles along nicely.

bsc · 13/02/2020 10:40

I think Winter sounds like a book heroine, so:
Winter Rosalind
Winter Jessamine
Winter Josephine
Winter Ariella
Winter Ondine

OnABeachSomewhere · 13/02/2020 09:15

Love the suggestion of Winter Clementine.

Winter Chloe
Winter Victoria
Winter Emilia
Winter Naomi
Winter Elise
Winter Juliette
Winter Larissa
Winter Faye

IrishPeaches. So I can imagine! I, however, have never and would never, suggest any such thing. I think we should all think before we write and send.

ClappyFlappy · 12/02/2020 13:53

Winter Genevieve

Winter is still quite unusual but by no means unheard of as a name. I’ve known of a couple.

Whatsyourflava · 12/02/2020 08:18

@percheron67 sorry I meant to tag you too in my post above. There’s going to be literally hundreds of Winters running about. It’s definitely considered a name as well as a season

Whatsyourflava · 12/02/2020 08:16

@pallasathena official stats show nearly 160 babies were named winter in 2018 and its rising. Think you better get used to the name as you’re going to keep hearing it, it’s definitely not reserved for celebrities. I love it and would def consider using myself x
