Ava Alexandra is lovely! Good call Caspianberg!

Pigsmightfly212 · 12/02/2020 09:42

I like Hunter. For what it's worth I wouldn't worry too much about people saying it's "chavvy".
My 4th child has what is deemed in name forums as a classic "chav" name, but I still love the name and have no regrets. It suits him perfectly and I couldn't imagine him being called anything else.

Caspianberg · 12/02/2020 09:10

If you like Alexander for a boy, why not use for a girl also with Alexandra?

Boy: Arlo Alexander
Girl: Ava Alexandra, Freya Alexandra, Ella Alexandra

Twisique · 12/02/2020 07:50

Hector

richele4 · 10/02/2020 17:59

Hunter and Ella

Emthebaker · 10/02/2020 12:49

I really like all of your names, some others you might like:

Boys:
Oscar Alexander
Dexter Alexander
Hudson Alexander

Girls:
Eira Rose
Alva Rose
Phoebe Rose

Good luck! Smile

CalleighDoodle · 10/02/2020 10:23

Sommer is awful.

The rest are fine.

poppyviolet · 10/02/2020 10:18

Freya is a really pretty name

Whatsyourflava · 10/02/2020 10:17

For girls

I really love your names apart from Sommer
Love Aria Ava and Ella

How about Imogen? Or Eliza?

Whatsyourflava · 10/02/2020 10:12

I also think Arlo Alexander is a seriously cool name. I wouldn’t pick Hunter myself as it is really aggressive sounding and downmarket, sorry.

Other boy suggestions (but prefer Arlo)

Christopher nn Kit
Wilf(red)
Barnaby nn Barns or Barney
Nathan/Nathaniel nn Nate
Rafferty nn Raffy
Sidney nn Sid

Other ideas:

Eli
Ellis
Seth
Cole
Otis
Eric
Casper
Rudy
Dexter
Blake
Angus
Dominic
Chester
Caleb

PlantPotting · 10/02/2020 10:09

Definitely spell summer correctly If you pick that one

PlantPotting · 10/02/2020 10:08

I really think Arlo is a gorgeous name @Ellll

I’d personally choose Arlo Alexander

If you want similar suggestions how about Milo/Miles or Rudi/Rudy or Hugo or Otto

I personally prefer Arlo though and agree that Hunter is slightly downmarket sorry

diddlediddle · 10/02/2020 08:26

If you find Marie annoying because everyone has it then your daughter may find the same about Rose. Good list of alternative one syllable names by pp - or family/meaningful names.

Jossina · 10/02/2020 04:57

To be (brutally?) honest, I don't think Hunter sounds any more chavvy than Jaxon. They do go well together if you don't care though.

Maduixa · 10/02/2020 01:03

I love Arlo - it's on my list - and I love Alexander as a first or middle.

Not a big fan of any of your girl names - they're all very popular but I think most will age badly. Ella would probably be my choice out of your list.

I like Rose as a middle if it has significance to you - if not, look at some less common one-syllable names (list below) or maybe consider an old family name you wouldn't use as a first name - something like Anne, Barbara, Caroline, Catherine, Christina, Deborah, Eleanor, Elizabeth, Isabel(la), Margaret, Marjorie, Mary, Patricia, Rachel, Rebecca, Sarah, Victoria?

One-syllable girls' middles:
Ann(e)
Ash
Blair
Blake
Blanche
Blythe
Britt
Brooke
Bryn(n)
Cla(i)re
Dale
Dawn
Eve
Faith
Fay(e)
Fern
Fleur
Gail
Grace
Hope
Jean(ne)
Jill
Joan
Joy/Joyce
June
Lee/Leigh
Lise
Mae/May
Maeve
Maud(e)
Niamh/Neve
Paige
Quinn
Rae
Ruth
Sage

bridgetreilly · 09/02/2020 21:47

For girls, maybe:

Ava Caroline
Ava Louise
Ava Juliet

Freya Elizabeth
Freya Naomi
Freya Delphine

bridgetreilly · 09/02/2020 21:45

Other boys names you might like:
Leo
Jared
Max
Milo
Inigo

Astronica · 09/02/2020 21:41

Boys: I would put Alexander first - I much prefer it over Hunter and Arlo. Out of those 2 however I choose Arlo.

Girls: Summer is lovely and my first choice only if spelt this way. Otherwise Ella and Freya are best. Rose is quite over-used as a middle name so loses its appeal.

Ellll · 09/02/2020 20:21

Thank you all for your opinions! Smile
I like Sommer and Summer spelt both ways, tbh though that was my least favourite girl name of them all. Thanks for your feedback on Hunter/Arlo, I agree, i wasnt sure if Hunter on its own sounded abit chavy! Please feel free to suggest any other boy namesGrin i just love the middle name Alexander.
With the girls middle names, i do like Rose but again i agree, it is common... im open to other middle names just not Marie as my middle name is Marie and practically every girl in my family has that middle name and I've always hated it!! Haha i quite like Grace as a middle name also x

For those commenting, isn’t Sommer pronounced the same as Summer? I know one of each

Poppydaisies · 09/02/2020 19:51

Jaxon and
Hunter
Sommer/Summer

LoonyLunaLoo · 09/02/2020 19:37

I like them all except Sommer, what’s wrong with Summer?

marshallrubblechaserockyzoomer · 09/02/2020 19:35

Sorry but I think summer/sommer is horrendous, sounds chavvy in my opinion x

forgivemeimnew · 09/02/2020 19:29

I prefer Arlo to Hunter, although I’m not that keen on it.

I don’t really like Rose as a middle name but I love it as a first name!
All of the girls names are pretty although I would spell the last one as summer

Tellingitlikeitisnt · 09/02/2020 19:25

Is Sommer meant to be Summer?

I think Arlo Alexander to keep the alliteration

Girls are all quite common and samey but I think prefer Ava

Sorry but another No to Rose though
