Ok - please let me have it :D I think we have finally agreed our girls name!

I want to call her the full name, and will persevere with this when introducing her, then at nursery, school etc. Fully aware she'll get nicknames though, and I KNOW Evie is absolutely everywhere. (Tbh I rather like it, but so so common.) I like Van, Eve, Lina and Jelly Grin

I would like middle name to be Kitty, but other suggestions welcome please!!

Love Evangeline, it’s soft, pretty and romantic. I loved Nanny McPhee and the storyline with Evangeline. I really dislike Calista, It’s a much harder sounding name to me. Makes me think of leg calliper.

Calista is lovely . But too much with evangeline. Use one or the other with a shorter middle name.

@Whatsyourflava Sorry, i didn't mean to have a go at you. I do think comimg on to thread and just saying 'nah, hate it' is a bit pointless - I think your breakdown of how horrible Evangeline was probably just touched a nerve/felt a bit mean. But yes, of course honest opinions are good!

Evangeline Kitty doesn't work though, since Kitty is a shortening of Catherine.

How about Evangeline Catherine?

Or, Catherine Evangeline, Kitty for short!

Hey OP

I wanted to give a full answer because I always think whats the point in me coming on here just to say something like “I dislike that name”. I didn’t feel like that was helpful at all really. So I thought I’d explain why. And I thought people came on here to ask for honest opinions of what public think behind their back but would never say to face (because it’d be rude).

Sorry if my reply wasn’t what you wanted. But lots of people here like both your choices and you like them too so that’s obviously the main thing 😊

“Downmarket” is just an alternative to the C word which I appreciate isn’t a good choice of words and I wish my brain didn’t even go there to be honest but it does. Again I’m sorry I just wanted to let you know what people might think (as it’s what I think). But feel free to ignore.

Sorry this response is probably too “full” too. What can I say, I’m a chatty person 😃

Unfortunately Evangeline Lily is the name of the Lost actress - bit much. Otherwise that's lovely :)

Kitty is definitely NOT downmarket. It’s a posh name. Lady Kitty Spencer is one of Princess Diana’s nieces, I’ve also personally known a few very well to do Kittys.

Kitty seems very posh to me not down-market at all. Maybe I'm common but what on earth does down market mean?
Lack of education?
Lack of social standing?
No job?

I have no idea what it means ? But it is derogatory and both kitty and Evangeline are very fancy in my opinion

I think it's a beautiful name and don't shorten it. If it's your name, stick with it. It's gorgeous.

Dd has a lovely friend called Evangeline. Never shortened. What about Evangeline Lois or Evangeline Lily?
