What do you think? 🤔

(Middle name flow isn't very important to me, it's probably going to be Juliana. Or Ann.)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Lindy2 · 02/02/2020 17:08

I like it. I don't understand the dated comments at all. When was there a trend of naming girls Laurel?

CassandrasCastle · 02/02/2020 17:03

Yes, I've considered Yanny.🙊.I think that's a fairly flash in the pan thing though, if that makes sense (sorry, I'm tired and flipping baby is hurting my pelvis...not v coherent.)
I'm interested in people saying it's 'dated', just because it seems quite unusual to me
Not like a Janet or Karen say - no offence to those names!

Cbeebiesrehab did your Laurel have a red headed sister? I think I may know them!

Cheerfullygo4 · 02/02/2020 15:36

So pretty. Not dated at all.

sunfloweryy · 02/02/2020 15:30

I came on to say the same as @ruby2020 Grin

user1493494961 · 02/02/2020 15:27

Ignore people going on about Laurel and Hardy, I grew up in that generation and they didn't cross my mind.

puds11 · 02/02/2020 15:20

The generation the baby grows up in aren’t going to know who Laurel and Hardy are though so I think that association is irrelevant. 🤷‍♀️

floatygoat · 02/02/2020 15:14

And hardy

memberofseven · 02/02/2020 15:09

@puds11 I know. But it's unusual and the first thing I think of when I hear the name - possibly because I have gigantic ones round my garden that desperately need cutting back. Holly is much more (over) used.

NC4Now · 02/02/2020 15:05

I like it, but I think she’d get called Lauren a lot.

LittleSweet · 02/02/2020 15:03

I love Laurel and Mallory.

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 02/02/2020 15:03

I love it. It's really pretty.

daisypond · 02/02/2020 14:59

I’m surprised people think it’s dated. It’s never once been even a top 100 name.

ruby2020 · 02/02/2020 14:55

Have you considered "yanny"?

MayMiracle · 02/02/2020 14:53

Love it.
Beautiful, understated but elegant.

KatherineJaneway · 02/02/2020 14:52

And Hardy.

puds11 · 02/02/2020 14:52

@memberofseven so’s holly 🤷‍♀️

puds11 · 02/02/2020 14:52

I love love love the name Laurel Smile

@littlebillie have you read Lorelias secret though? That would put me off using the name because it’s sad.

DramaAlpaca · 02/02/2020 14:51

Yes it's dated, but it's a very pretty name.

MustBeThursday · 02/02/2020 14:49

@Poppydaisies yes they were men but Laurel and Hardy were their surnames, although I don't think laurel was his real surname. I think it's nice.

daisypond · 02/02/2020 14:48

I like it. I’ve never met one or heard of one either. It’s not an 80s or 90s name.

burntpinky · 02/02/2020 14:26

I like it. Do you watch How to Get Away with Murder by any chance??

Shadowboy · 02/02/2020 14:25

I like it and mixed with your middle name sounds quite classy

littlebillie · 02/02/2020 14:24

I like it but what about Lorelai

MerryDeath · 02/02/2020 14:20

i really like it. nothing wrong with the tree or being named after a tree, Rowan, Ash etc
