Hello! This is my first time posting but hoping for some help with baby girls name which I’m really struggling with and don’t have long to go! We’re looking for something strong and feminine, not too out there but not too 10 either. So far we’re thinking:

Eleanor nn Elle
Elodie
Evelyn
Imogen

Would love to hear any thoughts on those. Or any other suggestions. Thank you!

Thanks everyone! We’ve decided to go with either Eloise or Imogen Smile

I really like Eloise and Elodie.

newreality1 · 02/02/2020 13:44

Love Eloise. Elise is lovely too

Cbeebiesrehab · 02/02/2020 13:41

Evelyn- My daughter’s BC name so my favourite by far.
Don’t like Eloise as Louise is very dated to my ear.
Elodie is ok.
Dislike Imogen.

newtothis20 · 02/02/2020 13:09

Thank you! Imogen definitely seems popular and Evelyn a bit divisive (either really like or dislike). Really appreciate everyone taking the time to comment and for the other name suggestions

From your original and latest lists Imogen is my favourite. I really like Eleanor and Elodie but dislike Evelyn.

SundayMorningSun · 02/02/2020 00:28

Imogen is the nicest of those for me.

Graymare · 01/02/2020 23:50

Emer
Judith
Maud
These are the ones that came to mind when thinking of particularly strong female names.

Krazynights34 · 01/02/2020 23:46

So here are some others..

Harriet
Francesca (Frannie)
Melody
Clementine
Victoria
Vivienne
Lisette
Lina
Marianne
Martha
Jacinta
Julianne
Henrietta
Hesper
Evangeline
Angeline
Perdita
Delphine
Charmaine

Yes definitely open to suggestions, thank you. And I think I haven’t actually ruled out Elodie after all... I found boys names so much easier much being really indecisive about girls names for some reason.

Eloise
Evelyn
Elodie
Imogen

Imogen is a great choice. It’s numbers have been declining year on year so it’s actually much rarer these days.

I also like Evelyn and eloise and Elodie

DramaAlpaca · 01/02/2020 23:43

I like all those on your latest list.

Eloise is my favourite, but beware of people misspelling it Elouise.

Evelyn is nice, I like it pronounced EV-lyn like it usually is in Ireland. The only trouble is there are so many Evies around.

Imogen is pretty & I've never actually met one.

Krazynights34 · 01/02/2020 23:40

Evelyn of those three..

Are you open to other suggestions?

newtothis20 · 01/02/2020 23:37

Actually (mrs indecisive over here...) I think Isla has lost its shine for me as there are so many so may consider for a middle name instead. So shortlist now looks like:

Imogen
Eloise
Evelyn

I think I like all of those!

I love the name Imogen. go for it xx

Happyandglorious · 01/02/2020 22:46

Elodie. Love it

stophuggingme · 01/02/2020 21:32

Eloise is a gorgeous name

newtothis20 · 01/02/2020 21:24

Thanks so much for all the comments, really appreciate it. Although I just spoke again to DH and hes decides he doesn’t like Eleanor or Elodie but has suggested Isla or Eloise as options instead. So I think we’re now looking at:

Eloise
Evelyn
Isla
Imogen

I know Isla is very popular at the moment but I think I could get over that as we have a family connection to the name

Elodie

17caterpillars1mouse · 01/02/2020 20:35

Eleanor nn Elle - I like Eleanor, not so keen on Elle. I prefer Eleanore nn Norah

Elodie - not a fan

Evelyn - beautiful classic but Evie's are everywhere

Imogen - I like it in theory but met a 1 year old Imogen last week and it just didn't feel right

eomma · 01/02/2020 15:57

evelyn. i used to be eleanor and changed my name.

user1493494961 · 01/02/2020 15:30

Eleanor or Imogen.

sel2223 · 01/02/2020 14:44

I love all your names OP, is elodie pronounced like melody?

Pigsmightfly212 · 01/02/2020 13:11

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 01/02/2020 13:11

I like all the choices on your list except Imogen. (I expect I'm in the minority here but can never understand why this name is so popular. It sounds like a fabric softener to me.)
