Agh I can’t think of any names I like

Pregnant with DD2. With DD1 it was a choice of two names which I loved.

This time round I can’t think of anything I like. DH has picked a name I used to like and I’m quickly going off it.

She’s either going to remain nameless or just be given a boring name.

I’m only 23 weeks so I know I’ve got loads of time but I had hoped naming her would help me bond with the unborn baby but it’s having the opposite effect

Ahh, as I said earlier I think Cerys is gorgeous. We are having another baby and will be using our second choice name that we didn’t use for DS2 if its another boy. I think if you still love it, go for it. Very pretty.

I love Cerys and have a Cassia myself. I know it's not Welsh but to me it has the same vibe.

Ooh so I see Welsh names are up there...I had two rules for Welsh girl-names. One, anyone reading it could say it. Two, Anyone saying it could spell it.
Carys
Cerys
Bronwen
So sadly the lovely name Mafanwy didn't get a look in.....
Bethan
Rhiannon
Seren

YakkityYakYakYak · 26/01/2020 20:22

Cerys is a beautiful name, have you completely written it off?

bridgetreilly · 26/01/2020 19:33

I like Cerys, but I can understand why you might not want to choose it now.

Carys
Anwen
Sioned

Itsabigstinkydog · 26/01/2020 19:30

Thanks all!

Cerys was our second favourite name for DD1 but I feel like I can’t use it now even though it’s a lovely name

Some really nice suggestions. DH isn’t budging at the moment but MIL has rang to say another family member’s sister Hmm has picked the name he wanted but it’s made me go off the name more

I really like the name Efa if you’re looking for another Welsh name (although difficult for non-Welsh people to get the pronunciation right!)

DH and I used an app called BabyName which was so useful. It’s a bit like tinder - it flashes up names and you swipe right on any you like, your DP downloads the app too and does the same thing and it notifies you of any names you both liked.

Wilma
Prudence
Caroline

What's the second-best name? It's hard to suggest alternative without anything to work from.

Thefaceofboe · 26/01/2020 17:35

What about Anwen?

Flissmoon · 26/01/2020 16:49

I’m guessing DD1 is Seren?

How about Nia, Mabli or Anwen?

That’s right @bluemoon2468 - I feel like that name is a “second best” name now

If you chose between two names for DD1, I'm guessing that you've gone off the name that you didn't end up using?

viques · 26/01/2020 15:53

I rather like slightly old fashioned names, proper names but unusual because they are not widely used. Eg

Margaret,
Elizabeth,
Dorothy

Mumma4262 · 26/01/2020 15:52

Also, I love the name Cerys if you were looking for a Welsh name.

Mumma4262 · 26/01/2020 15:51

What about the other name you picked out for your first daughter? Or did you use that as a middle name for her?

IckleBear · 26/01/2020 15:42

Margo
Freya
Junie
Saskia
Romy

Itsabigstinkydog · 26/01/2020 15:42

Thanks all. Really nice names I just can’t see DH agreeing to them!

I don’t really have a style. I like names that aren’t common but aren’t too weird. DD1 has a Welsh name which isn’t common but not unusual in Wales.
