I've been told name choices are unkind to DD on the way

We are expecting a sister for our DD Annie Coco.
We've had a little opposition to our favourite names for this one, but then none of my close relatives liked DD's name either but it gets a lot of compliments now and suits her down to the ground.

Would love thoughts on our current shortlist...

Ottilie (Would love to name her Ottilie Tiger and her pet name would be Tilly Tiger but I've been told this is cruel?)
Clementine
Sunny (would want to use Clementine as middle name for this)
Clover
Juniper (we just love the nn Junie)
Indigo (we love the nn Indie)
Mollie
Maggie

Love Juniper and Clover. Both are on my list.

M0mmyneedswine · 24/01/2020 22:08

The only sunnys in my area are boys so i wouldnt use for that reason. i like indigo and mollie from your list. Dont worry about pleasing others she doesnt have to tell anyone her middle name if she doenst like it when older

Redonion123 · 24/01/2020 22:07

Not keen on Sunny, but other names are fine, and not cruel at all.

Isadora2007 · 24/01/2020 22:07

Tillie Tiger is like a peppa pig character. Just choose a different middle name if you go for Ottilie?

MousematsRule · 24/01/2020 22:06

@SingingMyOwnSpecialSong very curious about your DD's name now!

@AngusDuck Shock Blush
No wonder it has a good ring to it Grin

Other than that, I’m not keen on most of your choices to be honest, but love Annie and Junie together. Wouldn’t even bother with Juniper personally, Junie is nice as a stand-alone name.

AngusDuck · 24/01/2020 22:03

Sunny Clementine is a cocktail.

SingingMyOwnSpecialSong · 24/01/2020 21:59

Nothing wrong with any of those, she can drop any cutesy pet names when she is older, or keep them just for family/close friends. I have met children in the past few years called Clemmie (I assume short for Clementine), Sunny (she really suits it), and Mollie (although spelt Molly). A good adult friend of mine is Maggie, and I’ve never thought that an odd name.

My own daughter has a very unusual name (only 2 children with it in our county) and we get lots of compliments albeit alongside questions about its origin. But I think that is no bad thing as she’ll always have a conversation starter.

SkullCharm · 24/01/2020 21:59

All lovely names.

Screw them

TheLovelyOtherDinosaur · 24/01/2020 21:58

I think they are lovely and different and certainly not cruel! I love Ottilie (Tilly) Tiger. Please don’t choose a name to suit other people

StarUtopia · 24/01/2020 21:56

LOVE Ottilie - that was my next name if I had a girl - but I had a boy! Not sure I like it with Tiger - it's just too gimmicky.

Clementine is lovely too. Love Mollie and Maggie, but don't like Clover (like a cow) or Juniper (just too weird) or Indigo (Indie would not be great if she was never an indie type kid!)

Hauskat · 24/01/2020 21:55

I love Sunny Clementine and all of them actually apart from Maggie. They are unusual but not cruel! Although full disclosure my DD’s name is on your list.
