I think it's awful, sorry.

DramaAlpaca · 24/01/2020 12:17

Eek, no. Awful name. Sorry. I first came across it when I read Carrie's War as a child. Disliked it then and still feel the same now.

MadisonAvenue · 24/01/2020 11:51

I quite like it. It reminds me of the character in Carrie's War, Hepzibah Green. That's the only time I've ever heard it.

Poppydaisies · 24/01/2020 11:47

Love it!

LaLoose · 24/01/2020 11:42

Love it! Used to work with someone called Hepzibah and was always in awe of her name.

BirdieFriendReturns · 24/01/2020 10:43

After the character in Silas Marner.

I love it but it was vetoed by DH (and then baby was a boy so it was moot). I would spell it Hepzibah and use Eppie or Effie as a nickname.

bridgetreilly · 24/01/2020 09:58

@cuckooken pretty much how it's spelled: Hep - zi - bah. Emphasis on the Hep.

Omashu · 24/01/2020 09:58

I love all the more unusual Hebrew names like this ❤️

Hiphopopotamus · 24/01/2020 09:58

I like Hepzibah as a full name but the only one I know shortens it to Hepzi. Which to me just sounds like Hep-C. So for that reason I wouldn’t use it

cuckooken · 24/01/2020 09:58

Just to clarify, I wasn't asking. I was giving an example of how people are likely to react to it.

bridgetreilly · 24/01/2020 09:57

Shortened form traditionally Eppie, but could also be Zibbie.

cuckooken · 24/01/2020 09:57

How on earth do you say it?

bridgetreilly · 24/01/2020 09:57

Hepzibah!

I LOVE IT. Such a great name, such a great meaning, fun and quirky and PLEASE USE IT.

turnthebiglightoff · 24/01/2020 09:56

Awful IMO. Shorten to..... hep? Not for me sorry OP.
