I much prefer Rory but no major issues with Reggie really

Whatsyourflava · 24/01/2020 10:26

Can you let us know what you ultimately register him as @mrssunshinexxx 🥰

ilovemykids5 · 24/01/2020 10:21

My daughter has a Reggie in her class and he's so sweet and the name suits him so well.
Rory is horrible.

mrssunshinexxx · 23/01/2020 23:13

@Batmanandrobin123 thank you x

No worries @mrssunshinexxx
I have posted a few times about names for our upcoming arrival. We've now chosen a name and I'm not going to post about it in case mumsnet puts me off (it's not a very mumsnetty name) opinions are helpful when you are undecided but if you know which one you like best, don't be put off, it's your baby! Good luck!

Love Rory x

Thatsnotmynameisit · 23/01/2020 15:56

I think Reggie is used too much, I know 2 who were born in the last 6 month and one on the way.
I absolutely love Rory though.

kittykat7210 · 23/01/2020 15:53

I assume you’re talking about for a boy? Although I always associate Rory as a girls name! I think reggie is sweet but I like the older names!

mrssunshinexxx · 23/01/2020 15:45

Thanks @Batmanandrobin123 x

Rory

NoSauce · 23/01/2020 14:52

Reggie is hideous! Such a horrible sounding name and then add the Kray connection - no way. Rory is gorgeous.

Rachel345 · 23/01/2020 14:33

What if your ds has a speech impediment and struggles with his Rs?! It's a difficult name to pronounce for many.

QuintusEstInHorto · 23/01/2020 14:29

Rory without a doubt

Blackbear19 · 23/01/2020 14:02

Rory LyonsGrinGrin

Mumbassa · 23/01/2020 14:02

I know 2 Reggie’s and it’s quite a popular name. I don’t think the kray twins association will be relevant with their generation

Ploppymoodypants · 23/01/2020 14:00

I agree the Kray brother connection won’t be relevant to his generation. Barely even ours.

Ploppymoodypants · 23/01/2020 13:59

Rory is much nicer. A really lovely classic name.

I hadn’t thought of the Kray connection with Reggie but I don’t like the shortened versions of ‘old man’ names, as stand alone names. They always make me think they are ‘naughty boy’ names . Which I know is probably unfair and untrue but unfortunately my experience in the limited pool I know of.

MikeUniformMike · 23/01/2020 13:56

I have a friend who says her Rs as Vs, so I'd pick neither.

Imonlymoominafterall · 23/01/2020 13:55

Rory, as long as your surname isn't Lyons.

MikeUniformMike · 23/01/2020 13:53

I'd pick Reggie of the two. I like Rory too.

ChangeInTime · 23/01/2020 13:48

Rory is lovely.

Reggie is one of the most unattractive names around.

Batmanandrobin123 · 23/01/2020 13:47

If you prefer Reggie choose Reggie. Mumsnet always veers towards the more classic names and isn't a fan of nicknamed 'ie' names, but Reggie is a perfectly acceptance name and the Kray thing won't be relevant to his generation.
I have a Rory so prefer that but Reggie is nice too.

mrssunshinexxx · 23/01/2020 13:43

@diddlediddle maybe you are right 😏 but it has swayed me a little towards Rory .. only time will tell when I see the little face

@whatsyourflavour .. helped a little but don't think will fully commit until I meet baby but I appreciate everyone's comments

Seems like you prefer Reggie an are hoping people agree!

I think Reggie is fairly awful I'm afraid - firstly its a nickname for Reginald and not a name in its own right to my mind. I don't like boys names that end in ie because they are so twee and a man may want a more solid longer name as an option. And lastly Reggie is a trendy name at the moment and will date badly.

Rory is more classic.
