We live in the UK, I really love these name & there middle names (middle names are quite popular) just not sure if they're too weird 🤦

Girl : Saige Matilda
Boy : Quincy Eli

Both sound good with our last name!

Sage is nice but Saige is bizarre

TatianaLarina · 21/01/2020 15:40

Saige just looks illiterate.

I add the " I " so it looks abit girlier and think it just looks nicer.

That’s not how language works OP. 🙈

Quincy is too like Quinsy (complication of tonsillitis).

Quinn is ok.

Matilda goes best with George and Violet.

BlakeLifelesss · 21/01/2020 15:03

Sage is lovely
Matilda is lovely
Quincy is awful
Eli is ok
Seth is lovely
Dexter is ok

Saige just looks like you've made it up and makes me thing of a seige

Rachel345 · 21/01/2020 14:45

I think Quentin is the most common spelling. Think Tarantino, Blake, Letts etc. You can still shorten to Quinn if you like.

GirlDownUnder · 21/01/2020 14:06

You could spell Quintin as Quinton if you'd prefer a little difference.

FizzyGreenWater · 21/01/2020 14:02

How can Sage (spelled either way!) POSSIBLY be the only 'girl name' you like?! Out of hundreds and hundreds of interesting, unusual, classic/modern names, you can only visualise her having four rather dully arranged letters and be called after a herb.

It's not even a very nice sound let alone a name. I really wouldn't.

Quincy reminds me of the illness, but Quentin is great.

caringcarer · 21/01/2020 13:53

Not my cup of tea but each to their own. I went with Christopher and Bradley (before Brad Pitt became famous). Now called Chris and Brad. Not sure adult children thank their parents for out there names.

wowfudge · 21/01/2020 13:47

lt'll be their name for life or until they choose to change it, that's the thing to consider. If you call your child Saige you will forever be the parent who couldn't spell or who thought they were being clever.

Fwiw I like Sage, Sorrel and Saffron.

ginandgingers92 · 21/01/2020 13:25

I like Saige/sage :)

Tombliwho · 21/01/2020 13:23

Matilda... really? That’s a book or some shit
Holy crap 😂

Ishotmrburns · 21/01/2020 13:21

I dislike all of those names. They sound ugly to me.

That being said, my child has quite an unusual name. I'm sure there are people who think his name is ugly.

Names are a personal thing. If you like them and think the child won't get made fun of then just go for it. There are no universally loved names

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 21/01/2020 13:20

I love Sage, but Saige is a bit too out there. Sage was on my list of DS had been a girl, but DH wasnt a fan!

Quincy reminds me too much of Quinsy as many people have pointed out already, Sorry!!!

NoSauce · 21/01/2020 13:16

I like George and Violet too and agree that Matilda and Quentin would work well:

Matilda Sage
Quentin Eli

Dexter is quite nice too but I don't like Seth at all. It sounds too lispy.

Whatsyourflava · 21/01/2020 11:58

George and Violet are gorgeous names @Namechanger60 - are you happy with them or do you find them a bit too popular?

I really adore the name Eli - would it be too popular for you?

Dexter and Seth are both really lovely too. Would you consider one of those?

Totally respect that it’s up to you to pick a name. I wish my own name was a bit more unusual sometimes. Please just spell Sage correctly if you choose it though xxx

MikeUniformMike · 21/01/2020 11:57

Sounds like you have a food theme. Saige is awful, Sage is better but there are prettier herb names. Paige is quite nice.
Quincy is a bit unusual. Too associated with a TV detective for me.

faithinnature1 · 21/01/2020 11:55

Sage is either food that conjures up stuffing or a demeanor that is serious. Neither have typically nice associations, a food name should be fresh etc and a mood name happy etc. so I'm not sure what you are looking for from this name. There just be other girls names that are better. Dozens and dozens in fact!

Antihop · 21/01/2020 11:55

Mathilda and eli yes. Saige and Quincy no.

Lebkuchenlovers · 21/01/2020 11:45

I'm not so keen is Sage/Saige but think that Matilda Sage sounds quite nice.

I have a Quentin so much prefer that over Quincy. He often gets called Quinn. Quentin Eli sounds great imo.

Kokeshi123 · 21/01/2020 11:36

Sa(i)ge is what I use for seasoning pork chops.

Do you like Saffron, Laurel or Fern? Similar feel but much nicer IMO.

Urkiddingright · 21/01/2020 11:04

Quincy Jones as everyone else has said, that’s all I think of.

Matilda Sage sounds better.

Pannalash · 21/01/2020 09:57

Quincy makes me think of ‘Quinsy’ (pus in the throat) 🤢

Poppydaisies · 21/01/2020 09:54

George, Violet and Matilda

George, Violet and Quentin

These are all great names!

BreastedBoobilyToTheStairs · 21/01/2020 09:41

Dexter and Seth are both great. George and Violet have fabulous names. Eli is great.

As pps posted above, Quincy and Eli run together due to the 'ee' sound.

Ditch Quincy and use Eli! Eli Seth (although sounds a bit like Elisabeth if you say it quickly) or Dexter Eli both sound better than Quincy Eli.

Matilda Sage would be better than Sage Matilda too. Thinking about it more, it sounds like you're clumsily trying to describe Matilda as 'sage'. 'Sage Matilda nodded sagely...'
