For a boy... we're in dispute in our household!

James is lovely. It's Jamie for a boy if you must

Footballerswife · 21/01/2020 09:48

My step-brother is Jaime. Always thought that was the girls spelling tbh.

SmellyBeard · 21/01/2020 09:47

@MrsTerryPratchett

No, he's not Spanish - British and so are his parents. And it's pronounced Jamie.

Tryingthisonefornow · 21/01/2020 09:06

Bit rude! I am very real thank you very muchSmile

CodenameVillanelle · 21/01/2020 07:12

Ahem, jaimie here so it is a real name folks 😂

Well, just because some other parents spelt it wrong doesn't make it a real name!

MAFIL · 21/01/2020 01:40

Unless you are of Spanish or Portuguese descent and intend to pronounce it accordingly, I would stick to Jamie. If you opt for Jaimie you, and your son, are likely to have a lifetime of corrections ahead. Most people will mispronounce it, spell it wrongly, or both.

shartsi · 21/01/2020 01:34

Jamie. Hate James

RainbowMum11 · 21/01/2020 01:27

Just go for James and then call him Jamie??
Other spellings are not necessary.

Tryingthisonefornow · 21/01/2020 01:22

Ahem, jaimie here so it is a real name folks 😂.

Honestly though folk generally assume it should be jamie and even long standing friends have been known to spell it incorrectly when addressing me.

MrsTerryPratchett · 21/01/2020 01:17

I know a guy called Jaime. Everyone assumes it's a mistake.

I assume that's Spanish and pronounce accordingly.

Jaimie isn't anything and spellcheck agrees.

Astronica · 21/01/2020 01:11

Jamie

SmellyBeard · 20/01/2020 22:42

I know a guy called Jaime. Everyone assumes it's a mistake.

CoatTails · 20/01/2020 22:08

Married to a 50 year old Jamie. Bloody love the bones of him.

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 20/01/2020 21:51

Jamie

I know a Jaymeigh. I always read it as Jay-May, but no, it's pronounced Jamie

CodenameVillanelle · 20/01/2020 21:46

Jamie obviously
Jaimie looks ridiculous

NatashaAlianovaRomanova · 20/01/2020 21:41

Jamie

It was my brothers name & the registrar tried to tell my parents that they couldn't use it for the birth certificate & they'd have to use James - this was 37 years ago.

I went to school with a female Jamey.

To me it's a unisex name.

Mum2jenny · 20/01/2020 21:35

James for a boy, nickname Jamie. Not for a girl imo.

OwlBeThere · 20/01/2020 21:32

Jamie for a boy.
I know girls who are Jaime, Jaimie and Jaymee.
I personally prefer it for a girl, Jamie for a boy is a bit 90s.

UprightStiffRabbit · 20/01/2020 21:22

Jaime is actually a Spanish name for boys.

pn Hay-Meer

Jamie for boy
Jaimie for girl

DramaAlpaca · 20/01/2020 16:28

James nn Jamie.

BaronessBomburst · 20/01/2020 16:26

Jamie.
Jaimie is just a spelling mistake.

Peachbubble · 20/01/2020 16:24

Definitely Jamie

Jamie could read Jam-ie

Jaimie reads as Jay-mie

Although I realise that Jamie is the traditional shortening for James.

OverthinkingThis · 20/01/2020 13:39

I know a guy called Jaime. He spends a lot of time correcting people. I'd stick with Jamie.
