Can't say I'm keen, but if you like it use it, there is nothing in the least wrong with it, imo.

Icehotel · 22/01/2020 15:30

joystir59 can you define what you consider a chavvy name?

FizzyGreenWater · 22/01/2020 14:18

Ah I'm not keen, sorry. It manages to be a bit harsh and fussy at the same time somehow. Dan/Dani at the start, so quite masculine, then the ella making it long and fussy at the end!

Also dated.

Gabriella?
Gemma?

Urkiddingright · 20/01/2020 10:58

Dated, belongs in the 90s for a reason.

Bluerussian · 20/01/2020 01:36

Lovely name. Timeless. As is Daniella. I am acquainted with someone who has a young daughter called Daniella Siobhan (or Sinead), the child is lovely.

joystir59 · 20/01/2020 01:32

Chavvy

HalfManHalfLabrador · 20/01/2020 00:57

I really like it. You don’t hear it much anymore

Astronica · 20/01/2020 00:55

I find it dated and not so keen anyway. I do think Daniela is lovely though and feels more current.

QuintusEstInHorto · 19/01/2020 19:26

Very 80s so a bit dated for my taste.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 19/01/2020 18:59

I really like it. We had a Danielle at school a couple of years ago and she was a lovely girl, so I'm biased. I think it's a lovely, classic name though

scrivette · 19/01/2020 18:53

I know one (in her 20's) and it's not shortened to Dani. It's an okay name and nice to have something a bit different.

daisypond · 19/01/2020 18:44

Gabrielle is a lot nicer, as pp suggested.

IVflytrap · 19/01/2020 18:39

I like that it will be very unusual among this generation of kids, while still being a recognisable name that people should know how to spell, pronounce etc. It's a sweet name, all in all.

I think people place too much emphasis on datedness, personally.

Mamabear88 · 19/01/2020 18:33

I'm not opposed to 'dated' names. I actually love loads of names that were popular in the 80s, think Rachel, Natalie, Laura, Rebecca, Jessica etc. I don't dislike it but I don't love it either. It's ok.

NoSauce · 19/01/2020 16:51

A bit downmarket as they say on MN.

sel2223 · 19/01/2020 16:51

I prefer Daniela and don't mind the nn Dani

If it's the 'elle' you like, what about Gabrielle?

daisypond · 19/01/2020 14:53

I really dislike it. The Danielles I know are in their 20s-30s. It’s very dated.

jfoyo26 · 19/01/2020 14:17

I think it's a good name! Very 80's but that is to my style and taste. It's actually a very classic feminization of Daniel, just like Charlotte and Georgia but not as popular. The only thing that would put me off is it's very long!

MikeUniformMike · 18/01/2020 14:47

Very 1980s. Daniela might be more current.

DramaAlpaca · 18/01/2020 14:44

It's not the classiest of names (sorry) and it's very 80s, but it's not awful.

Whatsyourflava · 18/01/2020 14:40

I don’t mind it. Do you like longer names? How about Clementine (Clemmie), Margaret (Maggie) or Roxanna/Roxanne (Roxy)?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 18/01/2020 14:38

Dated. However that can also be a good think. She'll probably be the only one in her class at least.

BobbyBlueCat · 18/01/2020 14:20

Very 1980s.

MyuMe · 18/01/2020 14:18

Nothing wrong with it. I don't like the abbreviation to Dani though.

It is a short enough name that you don't have to accept a NN

Dyra · 18/01/2020 14:16

Danielle is fine. Very nice. To a woman, they all used Dani as a NN. It's fallen out of fashion in recent years, but the only important thing is that you and anyone whose opinion you value like the name.
