Stirling is OK. Sterling might have people assuming you’re keen on the pound sterling, that being one of its more common uses.

I've heard a lot worse. It's not weird.

It was Stirling Moss, not Sterling, btw. That's a better spelling, a town rather than a currency or adjective.
