Will be a brother to Charles, what do we think? Two months to go and really struggling. I think I like it but don't love it.

I love it, but then I have a Seamus (the dog).

Fab name OP.

FREEM · 20/01/2020 19:31

oops!
I had thought it was Scottish garlic for James!
ha ah
Irish/ Scottish.. we are all gales togetger

LittleDragonGirl · 20/01/2020 19:11

Seamus is 100% Irish

It is the Irish equivalent of James though @FREEM Grin

lowlandLucky · 18/01/2020 17:45

It isn't a Scottish name it's Irish

DramaAlpaca · 17/01/2020 22:12

FREEM isn't Seumas the Scottish version of James? Seamus is most certainly Irish.

Notso · 17/01/2020 22:01

I really like it, I know a three year old Seamus who is adorable.
Not at all keen on Shay at all though.

3littlerabbits · 17/01/2020 21:49

Fabulous fabulous name. It’s what I’d pick if I had a baby boy. I know a few small Seamus and they are all awesome :)

FREEM · 17/01/2020 21:49

Scottish version of James ..
personally not a huge fan of the sound of the name but it's nice and shirt easy to spell.
if you like it go for it

Chirpychirpy3 · 17/01/2020 21:48

I don’t think it goes well with Charles

autumnkate · 17/01/2020 21:40

I LOVE Seamus. It’s a wonderful, classic, dignified name.

Batmanandrobin123 · 17/01/2020 20:04

I love it. We were tempted by it but have now chosen a different Irish name instead. I like Seami and Shay too.

@PrincessHoneysuckle it’s pronounced Shaymus. (Caveat - I’m not Irish). But it’s defo nothing like Semen.

VonHerrBurton · 17/01/2020 00:19

LOVE it. I'm not Irish, have a 20 year old cousin with the name, sometimes gets Shay. I adore both of the names. Do it. You obviously like it - so what if some others don't? From the most mainstream name to the most unusual there'll always be yay-ers and nay-ers.

catlady3 · 17/01/2020 00:14

I think it's gorgeous and works as a cute name for a baby but also a serious name for a grown up. Was in the running for the baby we're expecting.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 17/01/2020 00:13

I like it... has a soft, cuddly feel
My Seamus is certainly soft and cuddly. He is a Labrador though. An Irish Labrador mind. Grin

My brother in law is a Seamus (from Donegal) - always gets called Shay by everyone unless he's getting told off! Love the name.

turnedabout · 17/01/2020 00:07

Seamus is the Irish equivalent of James.

It's a yes from me OP!

Chienloup · 17/01/2020 00:04

It's a lovely strong name, and your reason for choosing it makes it more special.

Astronica · 17/01/2020 00:00

I really like it.

june2007 · 16/01/2020 23:25

Yes it,s fine.

Bluerussian · 16/01/2020 23:18

It's nice, doesn't it mean James only in 'Irish'? I think you need a classy surname to go with it and only you whether or you have but I do like it.
I like Irish names generally - Sean, Ciaran, Gerard, Kian and loads of pretty girls names - Siobhan, Maeve, Sinead.
