I challenge you to suggest a name I've not already thought of...

I'm looking for a one-syllable name as the baby's second name will be long (double barrelled).

Boy's name.

Uncommon / not going to be too many of them either at school or in the media etc.

Names I've ruled out:

Things like:
John, Ben, Dan, Ed, etc (too boring, common amongst older people, 'around')

Things like:
Alfie, Albie, Ted, Wilf, Archie, (too popular)

Things like:
Bear, Fox, Snow, Thor (I kind of like them but they are a bit too much, iyswim)

Looking for a middle ground name. Uncommon, short, strong (not ending in "ie" sound) but not too wacky.

For example my favourite girl's name is Fern. (I quite like nature names).

The only boy's name I like is two syllables (Rohan- though could be shortened to Ro) but DH doesn't like it.

Any ideas for a name which fits the bill?

I know a Soren. It's a lovely name. And he's cute!

So is it the usual story, you're putting forward loads of names and he's rejecting them all?

Is he making suggestions?

Also both of you should consider that some names might not jump out at you to begin with but might grow on you.

Yeh I agree with @PlantPotting - if you are saying names like “Wilf” are too popular @Namesetcdefinitely then definitely don’t pick a name that is almost identical to last years’ fastest rising boys name Roman. And also similar to so many other names that are also really popular. Rowan and Roman both top 100 rising fast and Roman will be top 20 soon given how much it climbs year on year. I teach so many variations of Ronan Roan Rohan, it’s really confusing and to be frank very dull. 🤯

Hold on... what about Frank?

Or Peter? Or Kit? Logan? Jim? Roy?
