I challenge you to suggest a name I've not already thought of...

I'm looking for a one-syllable name as the baby's second name will be long (double barrelled).

Boy's name.

Uncommon / not going to be too many of them either at school or in the media etc.

Names I've ruled out:

Things like:
John, Ben, Dan, Ed, etc (too boring, common amongst older people, 'around')

Things like:
Alfie, Albie, Ted, Wilf, Archie, (too popular)

Things like:
Bear, Fox, Snow, Thor (I kind of like them but they are a bit too much, iyswim)

Looking for a middle ground name. Uncommon, short, strong (not ending in "ie" sound) but not too wacky.

For example my favourite girl's name is Fern. (I quite like nature names).

The only boy's name I like is two syllables (Rohan- though could be shortened to Ro) but DH doesn't like it.

Any ideas for a name which fits the bill?

Sven

Sven (in Danish and Norwegian also Svend and in Norwegian also "Svein") is a Nordic first name which is used throughout Scandinavia, Estonia and Germany. The name itself is Old Norse for "young man" or "young warrior".

Soren sounds like a girls name to me but could be either. And have only ever heard of it with Soren Lorenson from the books Charlie and Lola!

How about Pete, Eric, Luke, Max, Paul, Rob, Doug, Carl, Bob, Rob, Ben, Mel, Will,
Nature - Leaf, Oak, Ash, Birch, Jay

Soren I think is meant to be pronounced 'Surn' - but I love Soren as in Lawrenson!

Sammy867 · 15/01/2020 21:40

the boys name we had picked out but didn't use since we had a DD was
Theodore but this would have been shortened to Teddy for us.

The unusual one which is in my DDs class at school which is now growing on me is Ernest, who is currently getting ernie from the younger ones who can't yet say "s" sounds

Hopeful16 · 15/01/2020 21:40

The only Soren that I know is Soren Lorensen who is the imaginary friend off Charlie and Lola.
