I really like the name Sadie but my husband says it's a pets name (dog/horse). Do you agree with him?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
managedmis · 13/01/2020 21:04

I don't like it, sounds like sadist

It's just so twee

happycamper11 · 13/01/2020 21:03

I'd never have thought of it but I actually love it. It's definitely not a pets name. I have a Lola and have met loads of dog Lola's since I named her. I've never heard of a pet called Sadie

FleetwoodMacMummy · 13/01/2020 20:19

I think it's a lovely name and if it didn't clash with my surname I would have it at the top of my list

Mollie3 · 13/01/2020 20:17

Don’t like it, used to know a very badly behaved girl called Sadie and I don’t like the sound of it too

misspiggy19 · 13/01/2020 20:15

Don’t like it.

Whynosnowyet · 13/01/2020 19:55

Just searched and saw she was home for Xmas!
Lovely start to the year!!

Whynosnowyet · 13/01/2020 19:53

To digress the thread in the nicest way has the poster with prem baby Saydee been back recently?
Just reminded me!!

JonnyPocketRocket · 13/01/2020 19:38

I think it's nice enough but I like Zadie better.

bigbluebus · 13/01/2020 19:36

@BabloHoney My nana was known as Sadie but her real name was Sarah. She was born in early 1900's.

I have only ever come across one other Sadie and she's about 12 now.

myrtleWilson · 13/01/2020 19:31

oh I meant to add that to my post @fenellavelour - never had any 'sexy sadie' nicknames either.....

BabloHoney · 13/01/2020 19:30

Love Sadie. I think it used to be a nickname for Sarah

ArtisanPopcorn · 13/01/2020 19:30

Would have been one of my top choices for a girl if we'd decided to have a second!

FenellaVelour · 13/01/2020 19:28

I like it but it always makes me think of “Sexy Sadie” which is a bit 😬

Spied · 13/01/2020 19:26

Love it.
I don't associate it with pets.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 13/01/2020 19:24

Love it.

Apolloanddaphne · 13/01/2020 19:21

It's my dogs name! I love it but it conjures up a dopey Labrador.

motortroll · 13/01/2020 19:19

Love it! Classic and timeless. It's a family babe in my husbands side so we considered it. I like that it is old but has a modern sound.

Spoonsmum · 13/01/2020 18:59

Love it. One of my nurses was a Sadie and she was the loveliest happiest bubbliest person :)

sel2223 · 13/01/2020 18:55

@FrogFairy Connie 😍😍😍 I love that!

myrtleWilson · 13/01/2020 18:55

I have one.. of the child not pet variety. Never had an issue with being called "sad" etc. She genuinely likes her name and it suits her now as older teen as much as young toddler...

Peacefrog23 · 13/01/2020 18:52

I really like sadie. Funny, my husband said exactly the same thing! Its
a dogs name to him so we didnt use it..try talk him around, wish i had! x

FrogFairy · 13/01/2020 18:41

I love it, also love other “old lady” names such as Connie, Nancy etc.

CallofDoodee · 13/01/2020 18:39

I love it actually.

percheron67 · 13/01/2020 18:37

I like it. Also like Dinah but I think that is linked to a naughty rugby song!

formerbabe · 13/01/2020 18:36

Love it
