Robin is a perfectly acceptable spelling for girls as well as boys, and I personally much prefer it to Robyn.

My favourites from your lists are Ada and Felix.

Lavenderblues · 17/01/2020 17:11

I like Mary. Beautiful and underused.

Eric is nice. How about Reuben or Quentin.

emmathedilemma · 17/01/2020 16:31

I know a child called Stirling and everyone's first reaction was to ask if he was conceived at the services on the M9!

Iknewyouwerewaitingforme · 17/01/2020 13:58

OP Sorry but much preferred your original list! The girls all sound very harsh and the boys just not one I like.

Loved Ada from your girls and Rex from boys. All comments bar 1 seemed to also like Rex, we are finally moving away from the stupid, outdated dog/cat/hamster connections with certain names!

PlantPotting · 14/01/2020 16:17

You’ve got some great names in your updated list

For girls I love Erin, Berry (unisex name I think) and Robin (buy id spell Robyn)

Boys list I love all your names except Gene and Gower

MikeUniformMike · 14/01/2020 16:06

Erin is very popular, if that puts you off.
Berry is cute but a bit twee.
Robin. Yes, use it, but will be assumed to be a boy.

Of your boys' names, Eric Gower.
Don't like Rafferty, Gene or Otto.

Nofoolfornoone · 14/01/2020 15:42

I’ve done some more thinking and rectified my list a little.
I am keen to have names which are not overly popular, unique and lovely but also not names which make people roll their eyes. Maybe that’s unachievable ?!

Erin
Berry
Robin (I prefer it in this spelling Rather then being changed just so the name is identifiable as a girls name)

Rafferty
Gower (family name always used as first name or middle name)
Gene
Otto
Eric

What about Gower for a boy? It’s a long standing family name

OP posts:
LemonBreeland · 13/01/2020 09:22

Berry - I thin this is quite sweet
Robin - I have a huge aversion to unisex names, they sound wrong for either sex to me.
Ada - Not keen
Emmeline - love this
Thea - I like this name but find it doesn't roll off the tongue easily for me
Mary - old lady

Rafferty - love
Rex - dog
Beau - not keen, a bit try too hard
Roman - nope
Stirling - Absolutely love
Felix - love this

Flymetothestars · 13/01/2020 09:18

I like Berry too and think it’s a unisex name for example, Berry Gordy from Motown @kaezarose

kaezarose · 13/01/2020 09:13

Berry immediately caught my attention. It's so pretty! A nice alternative to Cherry. And Thea has always been a favorite of mine. More particular with boys names, I like Stirling best off your list

JesusHChristOnABike · 12/01/2020 23:05

I have a Felix so that's my favourite of your boys names. Not keen on any others in your list.

For a girl, I'd go for Robyn. Love that name.

Nofoolfornoone · 12/01/2020 23:03

Wow, Felix is the only name you all agree on So far! Followed by Rafferty and Rex.

I need to work on my girls names clearly lol Robin is a unisex name though not a boys name. But more commonly spelt Robyn if used for a girl. I’ve always loved Berry. I met a Berry once in Scotland and thought it was beautiful. But it’s risky choosing such an unusual name so I’m not sure I would for a first name.
