Hello, me and my husband are keeping the sex of our baby a surprise but have shortlisted a few names which I'd like opinions on please! So for a girl we have either Polly or Elodie and for a boy we have Isaac or Ivo (pronounced eye-vo) thanks Smile

Another vote for Elodie and Ivo, and again, I automatically pronounced eye-vo

sel2223 · 13/01/2020 09:43

Elodie and Ivo - I love the French connection since your DH is French and they are both beautiful, unusual names but not too 'out there'

Without reading the pronunciation, I would have said eye-vo anyway. Just like ivor or ivan so can't see the issue.

I like Polly but it just seems a bit common to me compared to your other choices....Polly pocket, pretty Polly, Polly the parrot lol

Loveislandaddict · 12/01/2020 21:41

all Good names, although prefer Pollyanna to Polly on it’s own,

TatianaLarina · 12/01/2020 21:38

Love Polly and Ivo. Like Elodie but there are quite a lot of them. (Also doesn’t sound good with London accent).

What about Manon?

NameChange30 · 12/01/2020 21:36

I love Ivo. It will be on my shortlist if all goes well with my current pregnancy and it turns out to be a boy!

Not such a fan of Polly or Elodie, I think of the two I prefer Elodie.

(My DH is French too Smile)

17caterpillars1mouse · 12/01/2020 19:42

I really like Polly, not so keen on Elodie

I like both Isaac and Ivo but I'd go with Ivo as its more unusual

MikeUniformMike · 12/01/2020 13:57

Polly and Isaac.

I pronounce Ivo as Ee-vo because that's how the Ivo I know says it, but some will say it a Eye-vo.
Elodie is a trendy name that will date, and sounds pretty in French but meh in the UK.

Astronica · 12/01/2020 07:07

I like them all but Polly and Ivo are my favourites.

Jossina · 12/01/2020 03:30

I know and Ivo and he's a great, great guy (very handsome too!). And Elodie is much nicer than Polly. Though you could always name her Elodie and call her Polly sometimes.

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 12/01/2020 03:16

Polly and Ivo get my vote

letmebefrank · 12/01/2020 00:14

Elodie and Ivo

Dietcokeaddiction · 11/01/2020 23:52

Polly and Ivo.
The others are fine but Polly and Ivo are gorgeous!

Tillygetsit · 11/01/2020 23:00

The Ivo in dd1's class is pronounced Eye-vo. Never had any problems. Easy to spell too. Love both your boy's names OP and prefer Polly to Elodie.

CalleighDoodle · 11/01/2020 22:50

can’t see how pronunciation would be difficult

Because ivor is pronounced eye vor, the pronunciation op wants, and ivo Is pronounced EE voh, not what op wants...

user1493494961 · 11/01/2020 22:44

Not keen on Polly, Elodie's OK. Really like Ivo, can't see how pronunciation would be difficult. Ivor is awful, really dated.

RecoveringChocaholic · 11/01/2020 20:40

Love both Polly and Elodie. My first boyfriend was called Ivo. He was Dutch and it was pronounced Eevo rather than eye-vo so I'd be concerned about pronunciation. Lovely name otherwise and a lovely person too.

CalleighDoodle · 11/01/2020 20:39

Polly and Isaac. I know two Pollyannas who go by polly.

For the pronunciation you want, would Ivor not work better?

Really
Dont like elodie. Sounds like a lazy melody.

PlantPotting · 11/01/2020 20:38

Elodie even better if your DH is French @N3wMum2Be

notaregularmom · 11/01/2020 20:34

Love all them but if I had to choose I'd probably go for Elodie. My nephew is Isaac so I'm biased but I also love ivo. Also like Ivor and Ivah

N3wMum2Be · 11/01/2020 20:32

Thanks guys! I should have said my husband is French hence the names Ivo and Elodie. Ivo was a French saint Smile

polly reminds me of a parrot! love the rest x

PlantPotting · 11/01/2020 20:27

@ParsleyPot OP would also have to try Polly in all those accents too to make it fair! I much prefer Elodie (and have always preferred Holly to Polly myself)

PlantPotting · 11/01/2020 20:26

Elodie and Isaac are my favourites!! Two very special gorgeous names

Kanga83 · 11/01/2020 20:25

Polly and Isaac or Ivor, not Ivo.

Mandarinfish · 11/01/2020 20:25

Polly and Isaac
