What does everyone think of the name Elm for a boy? I love it but is it a bit too hippy? Thanks!

NearlyAMumma · 10/01/2020 17:24

Love love love it

CustomerCervixDepartment · 10/01/2020 17:23

It doesn’t even can have one syllable, it’s a noise, not a name, and also a tree, and a disease.

user1493494961 · 10/01/2020 17:00

I think it's all been said.

littlebillie · 09/01/2020 23:19

Elmer Fudd

BreastedBoobilyToTheStairs · 09/01/2020 23:14

Suitable for a Pokemon professor...

Tartyflette · 09/01/2020 23:04

Elmer Fudd. No.

YourOpinionIsNoted · 09/01/2020 23:01

Call him Branch after the grumpy one from Trolls.

PPopsicle · 09/01/2020 22:59

PsychosonicCindy · 09/01/2020 22:58

percheron67 · 09/01/2020 22:55

Dear God. Poor child. Presumably, you are not from the Netherlands!?

cybergran · 09/01/2020 22:51

woody

ooooohbetty · 09/01/2020 22:29

No. Just no. Not for a boy or a girl. Don't do that to them.

roiseandjim · 09/01/2020 22:22

Actually quite like that but for a girl

MyBrambles · 09/01/2020 21:56

Linden is also a tree name as are Rowan and Hazel and Olive.

Nonnymum · 09/01/2020 21:05

Yes puds11 Rowan is traditionally a boys name eg. Rowan Atkinson, and the ex Arch Bishop OF Canterbury Rowan Williams. Rowena is the female version though Rowen seems to becoming more popular for think girls.
I cant think of any other tree names for boys.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 09/01/2020 21:00

Oakley is a tree based boys name if you want to go that way. Rowan can be boy or girl, Woody is more American but has been used in the UK. Personally - Elm, no. As above the connotation with Dutch Elm Disease.

It reminds me of the alphabet... Elm...n...o....p.. ?

puds11 · 09/01/2020 20:54

Jesus no! Sounds very twatty. I think the only boy tree name is Ash. Is Rowan a boys name as well as a girls?

Tree names generally just mean you’re a dick and trying to hard to be ‘out there’.

donquixotedelamancha · 09/01/2020 20:47

Let's put a pin in the fact that you want to call your child after a tree - could you not choose a tree which doesn't have a disease named after it?

What about Groot?

AdaColeman · 09/01/2020 20:46

Slippery Elm?

SallyLovesCheese · 09/01/2020 20:44

Short for Elmer?

TheYearOfTheDog · 09/01/2020 20:43

It's a nice name for a house or a road

TheYearOfTheDog · 09/01/2020 20:42

I'm just hearing 'wych' before it.
