Baby Girls Names Taken from Family Tree

Looking at names for our 2nd DD. My first DD’s name was a nod to my family and I would like our 2nd to be linked to my DH’s. From my DH side we like the GGM’s

1.Emily
2.Alice
3.Daisy

Hortense as my DH’s GM we would consider for 2nd name?
Rosie - My 3 year old DD has now thrown Rosie (Rose) in the mix, which has kind of grown on me since she said it and I would add to list but my DH hates it!! ( I think though she just likes it because of Peppa Pig and the Mrs Rabbit having twins episode) but she can’t get it out of her head now!

My husband is really set on Emily, but I prefer Alice or Daisy, so we have to compromise somehow.

Any thoughts on combinations? We have a one syllable last name.

Emily Alice
Emily Rose – ( I do love this one, but it keeps reminding me of that exorcism film)
Alice Rose
Alice Emily
Emily Hortense

Sophie and Alice sound great together.

Ironman140 · 30/03/2020 20:53

I have an Emily Rose and love it, I think Emily and Sophie sound fab together. If i were to have another girl I would call her Alice or Lucy.

littlealexhorne · 24/01/2020 21:53

Emily Rose is gorgeous

emilybrontescorsett · 24/01/2020 21:42

Alice Rose is classic and timeless

AlpacaGoodnight · 24/01/2020 18:52

Personally I love Daisy Hortense

IncrediblySadToo · 11/01/2020 01:56

@robin04031402

Sophie and Emily sound lovely!
Sophie and Daisy both have the e sound at the end which I don't think sounds good

How on Earth are you saying Emily if it doesn’t also have the e sound at the end 🤣🙄

@Jse266

I don’t like Alice.
I think Emily goes better with Sophie than Daisy does - but my Nana was Daisy & I love it.

Hortense shouldn't see the light of day ever again its really not nice

Emily Rose (Rosie as far as DD1 is concerned!!) 😊

It’ll give them A lovely bond

RoseMartha · 11/01/2020 01:43

Sophie and Emily
Or
Sophie and Alice

Cluckyandconfused · 11/01/2020 01:23

Daisy is gorgeous. I used it for my DDog and regret it now because I’d love to use it if I have a girl.

WindyMiller1020 · 11/01/2020 01:16

Alice!

Alice Rose.

SaltedCaramelEverything · 10/01/2020 12:53

Alice Rose is beautiful!!!

But Emily love too as middle name especially with short surname

PunkAssMoFo · 09/01/2020 21:55

Good call @ EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard. They are fab alternatives

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 09/01/2020 21:27

How about

Emmaline
Rosamund
Roseanna
Marguerite, which is aka Daisy
Louisa

MikeUniformMike · 09/01/2020 20:26

Emily Alice

Alice Rose
Alice Emily
Emily Hortense

I like Rosie but siblings should not be naming their baby siblings. (although the ones that I know who did got ok names). The baby is usually named after a doll or cartoon character or their best friend that week.

Emily is a classic.
Love Alice.
Daisy is nice but a bit lightweight.

Middle name:
Hortense is a bit different and suggests a french connection
Rose will be every other girl's middle name. Nice but unimaginative.

Sophie and Alice are the best sibling names.

Which name goes best with your surname? Middle names hardly ever get used.

mamablondie · 09/01/2020 17:17

Emily is lovely!

bb2605 · 09/01/2020 14:12

My sister's are called Sophie Margaret and Emily Alice!! I also want Alice as a middle name if I have a daughter (finding out next week!) as it's a family name and was my grandmothers middle name as well as my sisters. I love Emily Rose (don't watch scary films so no idea about the exorcist haha!) - otherwise Alice Rose sounds lovely too. Have you considered Amelie instead of Emily? Just a thought!

emmathedilemma · 09/01/2020 14:06

I'd go with Alice but any of them are good and go well with Sophie. Maybe wait and see what she looks like?

Poorolddaddypig · 09/01/2020 14:01

You can’t have Emily Rose. That name sends shudders down my spine as I just think of the terrifying horror movie

Poorolddaddypig · 09/01/2020 14:01

Really dislike Emily - it’s so bland and dated to my ears. I adore Alice, Rose and Daisy. My favourite from your list is Alice Rose. Definitely not Hortense

PlantPotting · 09/01/2020 13:33

Sophie and Emily sound amazing together but your other choices are really solid too

RhymingRabbit3 · 09/01/2020 13:31

They're all nice and sounds fine with Sophie. There's not much to choose between them, they're all classic, popular, pretty girls names.

MamaDane · 09/01/2020 13:30

Alice Rose Flowers

spiderlight · 09/01/2020 13:24

Emily Rose is lovely, and Sophie and Emily sound good together.

Spam88 · 09/01/2020 13:15

I have nothing to contribute other than to say I love Emily, Alice, Daisy and Rose (and Sophie!). We have an Emily but all the others were on our list as well :)

I don't think Emily or Daisy really work as middle names, so would go for one of the other two. I think any of the combinations work other than Daisy and Rose together - bit too floral!

I don't like the look of Hortense personally but I haven't come across it before.
