The long versions suggested are gross . I'll never get the Mumsnet obsession of full names for the sake of full names. Like naming your child something hideous so you can use the cool nickname, rather than just using the cool nickname which is actually the name you want

Poorolddaddypig · 09/01/2020 10:36

YES! Love it. My friend is called Max (just Max) and she's smart and sassy and it suits her so well

Lebkuchenlovers · 09/01/2020 07:40

I'd put a longer name on her bc eg Maxima, Maxine, Maximiliana or Mackenzie. Max is good nickname.

user1493494961 · 08/01/2020 21:05

No.

Sparklybaublefest · 08/01/2020 07:18

Maxine is ok, bit dated, so quite cute

isitsnowingyet · 08/01/2020 07:16

No

Lebkuchenlovers · 08/01/2020 07:07

I'd love to be called Maxima nickname Max.

Freyanna · 08/01/2020 00:15

No, I would hate that to be my name.

moonsmarshmellow · 08/01/2020 00:09

I really love it but appear to be in the minority

Tinselviolin · 08/01/2020 00:07

I usually hate boys names on girls, but I have a soft spot for Max because of Maxine Peake Smile
Maybe do consider a longer version though, she might like to have a more "girly" form when she's older

Constance17 · 08/01/2020 00:01

No

Tillygetsit · 07/01/2020 23:05

Nope.

Boireannachlaidir · 07/01/2020 21:21

It's your choice. I thought of Mark Zuckerberg too, as PP mentioned. I'm sure it's a fine name if that's what you like!

okiedokieme · 07/01/2020 21:09

Give kids a name that will look ok on their cv, at university graduation, on their wedding day .. . Then shorten it for familial use

ShellsandSand · 07/01/2020 20:45

Yep from me. I love Max. My youngest is Andie, not Andrea or anything else... just Andie, and she suits it so much.

fantasmasgoria1 · 07/01/2020 20:30

I like it! Tbh and only my opinion you name your child what you want to (so long as it's not something stupid) it is your child.

BoomZahramay · 07/01/2020 20:22

Personally, I'd hate to have a boy's name.

Lebkuchenlovers · 07/01/2020 20:20

Why can boys use Max as nickname for Maximilian or Maxim but girls can't use it as nickname for the feminine form (Maxima, Maximiliana)?!Confused

It's a nickname for both genders imo

Lebkuchenlovers · 07/01/2020 20:18

I really like Max for a girl.

It could be a nickname for Maxine, Maxima, Maximiliane if you wanted a longer name on her bc.

MrsTerryPratchett · 07/01/2020 20:18

No. Boys names for girls, naff AF. Never goes the other way, either, never hear 'Rose for a boy?'

That's because it's a promotion for a girl and a demotion for a boy.

It's a no from me unless you called DS1 Fiona.

percheron67 · 07/01/2020 20:17

Maxima. Beautiful name. Maxine No. Maddie. No. My friend's dog was called Max - a dear little chap but I would not name my daughter after him.!

Lavenderblues · 07/01/2020 20:14

What’s next? Steve? Roy? Geoff?

Stevie/Steph might be short for Stephanie. But Roy and Geoff are clearly only boys names!

Max is a nickname for Maximiliana or Maxima as well as the male versions.

Notsure94 · 07/01/2020 20:14

Maxima on the BC and Max / Maxie as shortened is lovely

17caterpillars1mouse · 07/01/2020 20:13

I really like it as long as its a nn for Maxine, which I see as fiesty and due a comeback

Lavenderblues · 07/01/2020 20:12

Just like Alex is short for Alexandra and Alexander

Max is short for Maxima, Maximiliana and Maxim, Maximilian.

So of course it works for either gender!
