In primary school , I was in with 2 others who had the same first name as me.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
RuthW · 04/01/2020 17:36

One in my year at school at lower, middle and upper.

BrigitsBigKnickers · 04/01/2020 17:35

None and I have only ever met one other person with the same first name as me in my 54years.

We were both waiting in an optician's waiting room and we both stood up when our name was called. I was also the only other person she had met with the same Christian name.

coconutcurls · 04/01/2020 17:33

There were 5 of us in my year at secondary school (none at primary). Two different spellings though.

NamelessNinja · 04/01/2020 17:31

4/5 . Very popular name for my generation but it has never bothered me

Crystal87 · 04/01/2020 17:29

I never knew anyone with my name until recently when a little girl at playgroup had the same name as me. And I don't have an odd name, I have quite a traditional name but it's just not very common.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 04/01/2020 17:29

Primary school - none.
High school - none.
Uni - none.

In 25 years I've taught one, who was named after me when I taught their sibling.
I've met one other as an adult.

Conversely, there were 4 of DD2's name in her class and 6 in her year in primary school. Ooops.

MaidenMotherCrone · 04/01/2020 17:26

@MrsSchadenfreude I also had those same girls with me at school. Except for the Julia's. Many, many, many Julie's but only one Julia all the way to adulthood. That's me.

I've known of one other as an adult.

GoGoLego · 04/01/2020 17:21

None in my class
1 girl a couple of years below me

OhMsBeliever · 04/01/2020 17:21

3 of us in my form at secondary school had the same name (spelled 3 different ways) and I think there were another 2 or 3 on my year group as well.

MrsSchadenfreude · 04/01/2020 17:18

Everyone in my class at school was called Catherine, Sarah or Nicola, with a sprinkling of Susans, Sharons, Karens, Julias, Traceys and Emmas.

I hated being the only one of me, but don’t mind so much now. I’ve met two others in my life, both with the abbreviated form (which I use) not the full form of the name.

joystir59 · 04/01/2020 17:17

Nobody and have rarely ever met anyone with my name. I'm 62

RaininSummer · 04/01/2020 17:16

4 in my year at school but I have only ever met one other . Oddly she is also about the same age.

GoddessOfTransformativeWrath · 04/01/2020 17:15

None. My name is really common but at primary school and two secondary schools there wasn't another one that I can remember. Definitely not in my year/class.

I think it's because I was born in 1970 but my name had already peaked ten years before. Apparently it was the most common name (or one of them) in the USA between 1950 and 1970 so it wasn't a popular choice in 1970.

I don't feel like I have an owlwan's name though! It's not Bernadette or Breda!

MonstranceClock · 04/01/2020 17:13

I have never met another human being with my name. Only dogs.

Millie2013 · 04/01/2020 17:11

One! All through school and uni
It’s more popular now, maybe peaked 5-10 years ago

CathyorClaire · 04/01/2020 17:11

One unfortunate other in primary whose parents obviously shared the same taste in hideous monikers as mine.

Joloh · 04/01/2020 17:11

Zero. :(

BraveSpiritKindHeart · 04/01/2020 17:10

None. I'm mid 30's and I've never met another one over age 10. It's now the UK's most popular girls name so I'm sure you can guess what it is and its popularity.

Kahlua4me · 04/01/2020 17:10

None in my primary and only one in secondary but in another year to me.
Very popular name now though 😊

Sugarskulllover · 04/01/2020 17:10

Primary school 0

Secondary school 1

SunsetOverEasterIsland · 04/01/2020 17:09

None, either in school or any job I've had. Have met people with my name though.
Same goes for our son - he's 18 and no one in any of his schools has had the same name as him Smile.

You will have heard both names too.

Youcunnyfunt · 04/01/2020 17:08

None. I’ve only ever met someone with the same name once (and they were named after me!).
It’s a fairly popular name, I just don’t think it’s used very much even at “peak” popularity in the UK. It’s an Arabic name.

MrsMoastyToasty · 04/01/2020 17:05

I was the only one with my name in primary school (30 pupils)but one of 5 in secondary school (60 pupils, all girls) but for 2 of the others it was their middle name which they used in preference to their first names.

Movinghouseatlast · 04/01/2020 17:05

2 in primary school. None at secondary.

Watto1 · 04/01/2020 17:04

Loads! In my tiny village primary school class of only 9 girls, 3 of us had the same name. My GCSE history class had 6 of us out of 15 with the same name. In my first job I was known as Little Watto to distinguish me from Big Watto. I’m 5’5 so not particularly little but Big Watto was 6’2 in her socks! I’m the only one in my current job but I’m also the only woman so perhaps not surprising.
