Hi,

We are down to these two names,

Rowan
Ewan

I like both, they are quite similar sounding so having difficulty deciding.

I like that they are nature name, Rowan a type of tree and Ewan meaning from the yew tree

Which would you choose?

Thank you x

Definitely Rowan.

Whatsyourflava · 03/01/2020 15:05

Curtis?

Whatsyourflava · 03/01/2020 15:05

Really like Winston. Can’t believe it’s not more common @MikeUniformMike

Whatsyourflava · 03/01/2020 15:05

How about Ellis? Or Eli? Or Seth? Or Tristan?

Hoping you can find a stand out favourite once little man is here. Be sure to update us

MikeUniformMike · 03/01/2020 15:01

I've suggested Winston on another thread.

Peacefrog23 · 03/01/2020 14:55

Thanks everyone......oh im so confused like them all! 🙈🙈

Will have to see what he suits then, eh?
If he is a miserable looking baby, sonny might not work! 😂

I will be sure to update the thread when he arrives ☺ x

I like Sonny/Sunny but it's a bit nicknamey. I know a Sunny short for Sunday (Nigerian descent) and it suits him.

Ewan/Euan is nice. (prefer Euan)

I like Rowan but would be put off by it's popularity as a girl's name, and the popularity of Roman, Rohan etc.

Cbeebiesrehab · 03/01/2020 13:55

Love Sonny!

Out of Rowan and Ewan I would pick Ewan. My son was very nearly a Rowan and I’m so glad we changed our mind due to the RoMan increase.

userabcname · 03/01/2020 11:34

I like Sonny best!

Whatsyourflava · 03/01/2020 11:26

I love the name Sonny! It’s my best friends’ favourite name. She was desperate to call her son by this name but her husband said “no” at the time and she’s still a bit gutted she didn’t get to use. Especially as her husband has since changed his mind and says he now loves the name (but they aren’t having any more children )

.....Men eh?! 😆

PlantPotting · 03/01/2020 11:23

Sonny is a great choice @Peacefrog23

Very fond of that name.

Just looked up Sonny Williams! He’s hot 😆 Used to be a boxer apparently. His cool name suits him.

Flymetothestars · 03/01/2020 11:20

I love the name Sonny @Peacefrog23

I know a 15yo with this name and he’s the coolest dude. I love his name, it really suits him!

Glad you and your DH have found a name that he quite likes! I know how difficult it can be, especially with boys names. So difficult!

I also agree that you should probably avoid Roan/Roman if you don’t want a “top 30”-type name. Definitely best to avoid the top fastest rising name (or a near identical one) if you’re in any way bothered about popularity.

Peacefrog23 · 03/01/2020 11:00

Hi Fluffy,

No i have not, only sonny from sonny and cher 😂 and the godfather!

We are in manchester x

That didn’t seem to tag you right @Peacefrog23

FluffyEggsontoast · 03/01/2020 10:57

Yes good idea to see what suits @Peacefrog23 😍

I think Sonny is gorgeous though @Peacefrog23 and works great as both a baby and adult name. Have you heard of Sonny Williams the New Zealand professional rugby player 🥰 🤤😜 He definitely suits his name!!

Ps.
@Peacefrog23 if you want to avoid a top 30 name then I’d probably avoid Roman/Rowan as it’s climbing so fast year on year that Roman is likely to be top 30 next year or year after (fastest rising name, leaps so many places each year and already top 50) . You can check the official statistics by region too. What region are you in if not too out-ing? Xx

NoSauce · 03/01/2020 10:40

I don’t like Ewan at all. Rowan is so much nicer imo. What about Rory?

Peacefrog23 · 03/01/2020 10:40

Popularity wise, would like something outside top 30 if possible but i think popularity varies quite a bit by region anyway. Dh is hard to please, doesnt seem to like any boys boys tbh ☹ but if i can get him to say one is ok thats progress! x

Thanks for all the feedback, still like both names, doh!🙈 guess we will see what he suits.
Or may end up going for something complety different, Not many mames we can seem to agree on.
Although dh suggested sonny last night, which is a completly different style from ewan and rowan but i actually think is really cute for a little boy and still natured themed too, but not sure if its right for a grown man!

Any thoughts on sonny please?

Thanks again xx

Rowan. I don't like Ewan at all.

Soawesome · 03/01/2020 09:56

Ewan. I also prefer the Euan spelling though.

Vintagegirl77 · 03/01/2020 09:50

Ewan. I have one and love the name. Rowan was on the list, but there are three at our school which put me off. It also reminds me a little of Mr Bean.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 02/01/2020 18:18

Ewan

FluffyEggsontoast · 02/01/2020 18:17

How about Owen?

I much prefer Ewan of the two. Lovely name.

Rowan/Roman/Roan/Ronan get all muddled and likely to date v quickly, don’t like. Actually prefer it it on a girl (probably because the ones I know are girls), but still not keen.

bluemoon2468 · 02/01/2020 18:02

Much prefer Rowan, I really don't like the name Ewen. The 'Row' sound at the beginning sounds a lot stronger and nicer than the 'Ew' sound.

NoSauce · 02/01/2020 17:57

Rowan.
