boy name trouble

myself and DH have always loved the name Jack but have been trying so hard to think of something else because Jack is super popular.

We honestly can't find a boys name we love, if our baby is a boy. I'm feeling so stressed that we don't have a boys name but love our girls choices.

Should we worry about Jack being over popular or just use it because we both love it.

Other boys names we have thought of are: Murray, Ethan, Aaran,

That's a tenuous enough connection. Use it! I'm familiar with the Aaron spelling though

My uncle’s name is John, but everyone in the family calls him Jack for short Confused

we really like the name Aaran also, the meaning behind the name is "high mountain". It is a Scottish island and we both love hill walking and would love a scottish name, however we know someone who recently used the name. They aren't close to use more our parents but not sure if they'd feel offended

Jack is a lovely name and yes it's popular in the charts but I actual no ofno Jack's under the age of 6. Then the o ky two child Jack's I know are 6 and 13

Still top of the Scottish babies name list (12th year in a row). I suspect that OP might be Scottish given her other choices but obviously could be totally wrong :)

thank you! honestly it just seems like so much responsibility to name your child. I've never wanted something to be so perfect in all my life. We are more than likely over thinking the name and probably should just go with our gut

I think jacks always been popular op. It's a timeless name.

The variety of names used now means that although it might be a top name, it doesn't necessarily mean that there will be 2 or 3 in your child's class.

My DSs are adults now but Jack was a popular choice even when they were babies. I know 2. One is a friends son, born a couple of years after my youngest and the other was in DS1s primary class. All those hundreds of kids we've come across through sports classes and scouts etc and that's it. DS2 has a relatively unusual name but I know 3 (with a different spelling).

I like Murray (Moray) and Arran (rather than Aaron) and Ethan is fine too.

I discounted so many names because they were too popular. Silly, isn't it. Jack is a super name for both a child and an adult. If you've found a name you both love then go for it.

If you like Jack just use Jack. Maybe when he is at school there will be another in his class but as soon as he gets out in to the wider world where there are people of many ages, nationalities etc he wont ne constantly meeting other Jack's.
