Twin girls name

Ellecrawford · 29/12/2019 01:13

Hi everybody, my twin girls are due end of February 2020😊💗 names are a huge problem though!! I obviously want them to have there own identity, however (I don't know whether this will get hate) but I would love for their names to be matching also.. a list of names I really like are ...

Darla
Hattie
Heidi
Gracie
Penelope
Elsie
Dollie
Delilah
Wynter
Rosabella
Lilia
Liliana
Darcy

The names I love together are
Rosabella & Lilia
Liliana & Violet
Heidi & Hattie
Delilah & Dollie
Darla & Darcey
Faith & Hope
Harlow & Harper

Is it bad to put names together that start with the same letter? Or that both have same meanings such as flowers? I reeeeeaaalllyy need help😩

Thanks so much xx

I'm not that keen on any of your names really - we have different tastes, which is fine, but

definitely give them different initials, and this is really thoughtful The first born twin has the name that's further down the alphabet, so on school registers etc the second born twin gets her name called out first.

miamiibiza · 02/01/2020 00:48

Annie & Heidi

OhMyDarling · 02/01/2020 00:38

Lilliana and Violet- so pretty!

Grandmi · 02/01/2020 00:36

Love the name Annie...how about Elsie or Heidi for number 2?

Chocolatecake12 · 01/01/2020 22:51

How about
Harriet and Delilah - hattie and lila as nn
Heidi and faith
Or
Jodie and alice
Katie and Darla

upaladderagain · 01/01/2020 22:21

I would forget that they are twins and think of them as two individuals, which of course they are. Give them the two names you like best.

Ellecrawford · 01/01/2020 14:20

@PlantPotting we've decided on one and the name isn't even on my list but DH mentioned it to me a couple of nights ago and it's Annie.. took me a while to warm up to it but I love it now💗

Any decisions made @Ellecrawford

The initials of Delilah and Violet might be a bit of a problem.

MrsCantthinkofaname · 31/12/2019 07:58

Violet and Delilah sound gorgeous together!

bettybattenburg · 30/12/2019 11:47

Penelope and Heidi.

Astronica · 30/12/2019 11:34

I think it's best that the names have the same style and feel, but not be too matchy - I don't like them starting with the same letter.

From your list (and variations) I like these pairs:
Penelope and Rosa
Grace and Penelope
Grace and Rosa
Penelope and Violet
Darcy and Wynter
Elsie and Hattie
Elsie and Lilia.
Lilian and Violet
Gracie and Hattie

As has already been pointed out, same gender and date of birth plus the same first initial doesn't do much to create a sense of the individual. You've listed some lovely names but I'd pair them differently e.g. Harriet and Penelope - so both have longer first names and the option of a number of nicknames e.g. Hattie, Harry or Penny, Nell, Pip. Maybe link their middle names instead so have Harriet Faith and Penelope Hope?

user1493494961 · 29/12/2019 19:54

Violet and Penelope are nice, quite classy. Harlow and Harper are dreadful.

istheresomethingwrongwithme · 29/12/2019 19:42

Hattie and Gracie sounds lovely. You could use Harriet and Grace if you wanted formal names and nicknames.

FluffyEggsontoast · 29/12/2019 19:31

What’s your eldest’s name?

Ellecrawford · 29/12/2019 19:14

Thanks everyone so hard to pick names, can't remember having this much trouble with my eldest 😩

Darla - Pretty. I also love Dahlia.
Hattie - I like as a stand alone name.
Heidi - I love this.
Gracie - It's OK
Penelope - I like, but prefer Nelly to Penny.
Elsie - Pretty, but becoming popular.
Dollie - I like, but very cutesy.
Delilah - Pretty. One of my favourites.
Wynter - I like.
Rosabella - Love this. Also Rosanna and Rosalie.
Lilia - Pretty.
Liliana - Love this.
Darcy - The only one I dislike on your list.

Of your pairings I like Rosabella and Lilia.

I also love...
Summer & Sienna
Autumn & Aurelia
Connie & Clara
Amelie & Esme
Evelyn & Eliza

userabcname · 29/12/2019 16:20

I'd go for Penelope and Heidi.

Copperas · 29/12/2019 16:07

Harriet and Dorothy would be Hatty and Dotty

MikeUniformMike · 29/12/2019 15:59

Darla - not keen
Hattie - lovely if short for Harriet
Heidi - lovely
Gracie - not sure
Penelope - ok
Elsie - no
Dollie - Dolly is nicer, I like Dorothy
Delilah - no
Wynter - Awful
Rosabella - sound like a disease
Lilia - tesco own brand tampon as was
Liliana - no. Lily is much nicer
Darcy - no, awful

The names I love together are
Rosabella & Lilia - no
Liliana & Violet - no
Heidi & Hattie - ok but too Matchy matchy
Delilah & Dollie - just no
Darla & Darcey - no
Faith & Hope - No - fine as middle names
Harlow & Harper - no

I would give each a name that is different. Firstborn gets the name that comes after the other in the alphabet. e.g.
Rosa and Heidi
Harriet and Dorothy.

They will be called The Twins a lot so let them have an identity of their own

FluffyEggsontoast · 29/12/2019 14:26

Not Rosabella

Sounds like you’re fan girl-ing Lucy Carter from Instagram /youtube

Violet is lovely

Thefaceofboe · 29/12/2019 13:44

Liliana and violet are lovely and aren’t alike at all but go together really well. I also love Eliana, Rosabella and Harlow (or Marlowe is nice) Grin

stoplickingthetelly · 29/12/2019 13:36

I know twin girls called faith and grace (in their 20s now). It is a bit matchy, but nice names.
