We’ve done unusual, but what old names do you rarely hear now?

I’ll start with Gary.

I know an adult Gary but no little Gary’s.

Samantha. Again I know adults but not little ones.

I know 2 Keith's, 2 Dennis and a Gary under 10 all named after family. Haven't seen a James in a long while

Yes I can see Christine being used again

JoGose · 27/12/2019 10:22

Dean isn’t that common anymore (lovely name, DS1’s middle name). Also Darren.

elmosducks · 27/12/2019 10:22

I haven't heard of anyone called Dean since I was at school. Or Graham.

I know a couple of young Brian, Anne and Paul's though.

CalleighDoodle · 27/12/2019 10:22

Youd think a traditionally christian country would be full of Pauls! I always say Paul to someone looking for a name that wont be one of 4 in a class.

I actually know teen African-heritage Paul, Tracy, Donald and Kevin. An America seems to have names popular at different times than the UK.

YourOpinionIsNoted · 27/12/2019 10:20

Agree Caroline is a nice name. Can see Christine coming back soon.

I already know a 5yo Samantha.

daisypond · 27/12/2019 10:17

Caroline is super. I know several Frances-es, from babies to early 20s.

Give it 20 years and all those names will be back. When I was a child, the idea of a child named Elsie, Ivy, Ada or Ruby would have been absolutely ridiculous.

Another few years and it will all come full circle and there will be a whole new generation of kids called Paul, Shirley, Kevin, Gary or Tracey.
