Just wondering what unusual ‘only met one’ names people had come across in their lives?

Yes, Ishbel is a perfectly normal name in Scotland. It’s not common - there’s not one in every class. But it’s not weird.

Lettice was used to be a popular girls name a century ago. It’s not pronounced Lettuce, it’s Le Teece .

Morgan12 · 24/12/2019 23:24

There were twins at my DS Jo Jingles class called Silver and Gold.

Silver is a girl and Gold is boy.

A girl I worked with had a daughter called Tinkerbell... Tinkie for short...

My sister has a friend with a son Obadiah. I quite like that.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 24/12/2019 22:45

I worked in a country where Precious, Comfort etc were normal, nice names. I knew a Delight (which I think is lovely).
I know an adult Adolf, which is unwise/brave (and my father was a German PoW but no connection).
Also a King Harold, known as Kingy (child).

cushioncovers · 24/12/2019 22:41

waterjungle · 24/12/2019 22:22

Rusty Colon - first name and surname. Got told off for finding that funny on another thread!

Ohffs66 · 24/12/2019 22:21

My work colleagues mum is a teacher. Every time we have this discussion in work his answer is that his mum taught a girl called Sha'Diamond.

I used to work in a bank years ago, we had an elderly customer who was at least in her 80s called Sunbeam Duckett. Actual name, not a nickname. She was lovely.
