Just wondering what unusual ‘only met one’ names people had come across in their lives?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Through my work, I come across a LOT of really weird and some clearly ridiculous names, and often thing 'Aha! That's a Mumsnet name' Grin
Wish I could share, but the whole issue with the fact they are so rare makes it impossible.
Have loved this thread though.
You do just wonder why do parents do it?

BillyAndTheSillies · 27/12/2019 15:36

Ziggy
Blue
Inigo, which I love, I'd just never heard it before I met this child
I know sisters called Porsche and Mercedes.
A few Rocky's and Rocco's, to the point it's not even unusual any more.

But then again, I have a Byron so probably can't say much.

I've met a Clever, Comfort, Precious and Blessing.

I'm so glad I wasn't called Grace as I'm so not graceful. And I've never met a cheerful Joy.

TheJoxter · 27/12/2019 12:24

@ThighThighOfthigh virtue names. I’ve met a Blessing and a Patience

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 27/12/2019 11:53

I also worked with a Precious and a Blessing - beautiful names and both were of African descent.

ThighThighOfthigh · 27/12/2019 11:22

Is there a group name for the 'Blessing' African Christian names? Blessing names?

OVienna · 27/12/2019 11:09

DD has a Terragon at her school. She goes by something else day to day. It's on the register tho.

AJPTaylor · 27/12/2019 09:58

I had an African colleague called Happiness, known as Happy. Best name ever.

ikeakia · 27/12/2019 07:38

PekTa are you in the south East?

I know a Butterfly too.

Excitedforxmas · 27/12/2019 00:36

I know someone called Cloud

MrsMillerbecameababy · 27/12/2019 00:21

Pixie doesn't seem to be that unusual. I vaguely knew a woman whose youngest was Pixie after older two called something like Jack and Ella.

MrsMillerbecameababy · 27/12/2019 00:17

Adonis

  • not Greek, had very bad acne, very skinny, painfully self conscious, sweet young teen kid when I first met him, had to feel sorry for him... Still hasn't grown into it - now skinny guy who drives vehicles for the council, still painfully shy but pleasant, has an equally shy seeming wife now.
PekTa · 27/12/2019 00:15

And I 'know' a little Praise God.

PekTa · 27/12/2019 00:13

Butterfly

RiftGibbon · 27/12/2019 00:10

Purple I had a Che at my primary school. I think he went on to become a semi-professional boxer in the 1980s.

JeffreyJefferson · 27/12/2019 00:08

RiftGibbon · 27/12/2019 00:06

Friend of mine knows a Pixie, a Tinkerbell and a Raleigh (pronounced Rawley).

TanselleTooTall · 26/12/2019 23:54

Whatdayisit2 · 26/12/2019 23:53
