Baby boy is a week old and we are struggling to decide. We have narrowed it down to either Max or Alexander and our older daughter is called Clementine. Which do you like better/think goes best with Clementine?

I prefer Max but not a fan of Maxwell.
What about Maximilian?! I think Max and Clementine go well together. Max is just such a nice, friendly name.

Alexander is ok but I'm not a fan of Alex. Xander is better imo.

Alexander.

midsomermurderess · 21/12/2019 15:42

Alexander.

StanleyWalkersThirdWife · 21/12/2019 10:17

I'd go with Max Alexander David.

I love the name Alexander but not keen on Alex as a nn which is what every Alexander I've ever met go by

diddlediddle · 21/12/2019 10:14

Only really one choice here! Clementine sounds much better with Alexander, Max is too short. Alexander also sounds much better with David, and gives you loads of nn potential.

Clementine and Alexander David - really beautiful names 💕

userabcname · 21/12/2019 09:56

I prefer Max but I agree Alexander goes better with Clementine.

TildaTurnip · 21/12/2019 09:48

Alexander. Max is ok but I would have it short for a longer name. Max David is not as nice as Alexander David.

But I really like the name Alexander and think Max is not as nice regardless.

Modernhistorybuff · 21/12/2019 09:45

I like Maxim too. Much nicer than Maxwell.

HopScotchHop · 21/12/2019 09:41

Alexander

IckleBear · 21/12/2019 09:36

I like Maxim David.

Spongeface · 20/12/2019 23:54

*can

Spongeface · 20/12/2019 23:54

Alexander! It was my name for my first born but my brother took it (family name) here it CNA end up as Eck too ha ha. Whatever you chose you will both love

Clementinesmum · 20/12/2019 23:51

Thank you all for your opinions. The real trouble is i prefer Alex and he prefers Max. DP has suggested Maxwell David but I'm not sure about the longer name just for the sake of it and it seems a big name for a little baby whereas Alexander David seems more right to me. So bloody hard!

I agree totally with Cbeebiesrehab

Nonameyet1 · 20/12/2019 19:43

Alexander for me too.

LarkDescending · 20/12/2019 16:33

Alexander David - so handsome. Congratulations!

Cbeebiesrehab · 20/12/2019 15:19

Prefer Max but think Alexander goes better with Clementine. If it was Maxwell or another longer version of Max (with Max as a diminutive) then I would pick that.

Thetimetravelerswife · 20/12/2019 10:27

Alexander

Modernhistorybuff · 20/12/2019 08:25

Alexander.
He can be Ally, Alex, Xander... and it's a great name.
Alexander David is lovely.

NobJobWinker · 20/12/2019 08:23

Alexander is nicer, goes better with David and more in line with Clementine

Plenty of scope for shortening too

PlantPotting · 20/12/2019 08:21

Both Max and Alexander are gorgeous names
Love the name Clementine too. You have great taste and I think either name would work. Slight preference for Max

Astronica · 20/12/2019 07:56

Both Max and Alexander are great names and both sound good for Clementine's brother. Alexander has the edge being a longer name like Clementine and sounding better with David.
Another option is to go for a longer Max name eg Maximillian David, Maxim, Maxwell or Maximus, but used Max as the everyday name.

MamaNewtNewt · 20/12/2019 07:32

I love the name Alexander.

Rumbelow · 20/12/2019 07:24

How about Maximilian with Max for short? I also like Alexander. Congrats!

MrsBertBibby · 20/12/2019 07:22

Alexander. Great name. Max is nice, but Alexander is lovely.
