There was a boy called Camero in my DD’s old school which I thought was weird as fuck. Pronounced like cameo only with an R. It’s definitely weird and not cool.

Cameron? I know it’s more of a boys name but is sometimes used for girls and sounds pretty similar to Cameo...

I think it could work could call her Cam for short. I have a friend Carmen she gets called Cam for short. I'd go for it op, I wouldn't listen to others if you like it.

Why do people want to give random words to their children instead of names?

A female bodybuilder called cameo probably isn’t actually called cameo. It will be a stage name.
