Middle name for Matilda

My husband and I have agreed with Matilda Rose. He did want Matilda Bella but I don't think it sounds well together. I really do like Matilda Rose but was looking through baby names and came across Raven for a middle name.
Any thoughts?

I hate one syllable middle names. They just sound like filler names.
I like:
Matilda Constance
Matilda Florence
Matilda Beatrice
Matilda Rosalie
Matilda Isabelle
Matilda Annabel
Matilda Rowen
Matilda Cecily
Matilda Verity

I plan on using Matilda myself.
I love Matilda Isobel.

Astronica · 15/12/2019 03:12

I love Matilda Raven.

SourAndSnippy · 15/12/2019 01:13

Just chose the namevyou like best for the middle name. No one uses all their names at once in day to day life. Apart from new parents announcing their babies name no one notices whether the name go together or not. I wouldn't pick middle names that sound odd with a first name but other than that you really don't need to overthink it.

Frazzled2207 · 14/12/2019 23:03

So many girls are (something else) Rose or Grace.
Nice names but far from original.

Bella does not flow well imo

Matilda Claire
Matilda Jane

One syllable best with a three syllable first name.

Quite like Raven but she would need to have jet black hair, surely?

Ikeameatballs · 14/12/2019 22:30

Love some of the suggestions already made but also:

Matilda Mary
Matilda Ruth
Matilda Niamh
Matilda Alice

I think Matilda Rose is lovely and three-syllable first names definitely go best with one syllable second names, so: Jane, Jade, Jean, Joan, Anne, Clare, etc. A two-syllable middle might just about work if the stress is on the second syllable as with Louise, Suzanne, Lorraine, etc

PennyGold · 14/12/2019 20:30

Emily!

Ifeelinclined · 14/12/2019 20:27

I was going to suggest Jane, but that's the name of a kid's clothing company in the US. I don't know if that is relevant where you are though. I think definitely 1 syllable. I'm not a fan of Belle or Bella in general.

HisBetterHalf · 14/12/2019 20:08

Matilda Rose is lovely

MyCatScaresDogs · 14/12/2019 19:58

How about Matilda Isabella? (Bit long for my liking but I do know one...)

NoSauce · 14/12/2019 19:45

Joy would be sweet too.

MarshaBradyo · 14/12/2019 19:17

Jane

One syllable is good

Frenchw1fe · 14/12/2019 19:16

#not

TheWaiting · 14/12/2019 19:16

I agree you need a one syllable name. Raven could be tricky not just because it’s clunky with Matilda but if there’s a chance she’ll be anything other than very dark haired then it can seem strange.
-Jane
-Claire
-Jean
-Blue (not something I’d ever go with but it rolled off my tongue)

Frenchw1fe · 14/12/2019 19:08

Why other change Bella to Belle and have Matilda Belle.

Bluerussian · 14/12/2019 19:06

Matilda Claire or Jane sounds nice. Doesn't matter if the name is not 'in vogue' at the moment, what is important is that the name causes no embarrassment when child starts school She will probably be called, 'Tilly'.
