Lovely.

Not so keen on Bonnie.

franksbitch · 14/12/2019 21:52

We have a Merryn, everyone says what a lovely name it is.

Queenoftheashes · 14/12/2019 21:39

@HamAndPineapple Yes meryn on thrones was a violent paedophile who eventually had an extremely graphic and bloody death, stabbed in both eyes etc. So I wouldn’t personally use it.

DingDongMerrilyOnThigh · 14/12/2019 18:54

It's lovely, sweet on a little girl but grown-up enough for a woman.

Yes - there's a well-known financial journalist called Merryn, for instance.

17caterpillars1mouse · 14/12/2019 18:47

It's a lovely name

Apple35 · 14/12/2019 17:03

I like it.

IVflytrap · 14/12/2019 15:24

It's a Cornish name, and as Cornish is a Celtic language, I wouldn't be surprised if it was related to the Irish Muireann @midsomermurderess

midsomermurderess · 14/12/2019 12:21

My first though was that it's an anglicised version of the Irish name Muireann.

HamAndPineapple · 14/12/2019 11:02

Oh, is it a game of thrones name?

Well then, I don't knwo.

HamAndPineapple · 14/12/2019 11:01

Love it!

But merrilyn is terrbile

TigerJoy · 14/12/2019 11:00

Beautiful name

Astronica · 14/12/2019 09:40

It's okay. I prefer your other idea Bonnie though.

Queenoftheashes · 14/12/2019 09:23

Would have been ok if not for Meryn Trant

BikeRunSki · 14/12/2019 09:06

I love it, I am biased, it is the bane of one of my best friends ever. It’s a lovely name regardless, it’s Cornish and means “joyful”. (My friend’s family were from St Merryn in Cornwall). I also know a couple of Merriels.

putputput · 14/12/2019 09:04

Best name ever, biased as I have a two year old one!
Have received so much positive feedback from it. Only met two others, both adults. We haven't ever called her Merry.

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 14/12/2019 09:02

Lovely. It was my favourite girls name for a few years, until GoT ruined it for me...

KittyMarmalade · 14/12/2019 09:00

Anyone who knows north Cornwall will make the St Merryn association (no bad thing). Anyone who doesn't will ask you to repeat it!

KatherineJaneway · 14/12/2019 08:38

I like it

diddlediddle · 14/12/2019 08:34

I would think it was a boys name but I don't dislike it

BarkandCheese · 14/12/2019 08:10

I really like Merryn, not keen on Bonnie.

miahadalittlelamb · 14/12/2019 08:06

kate1296 · 14/12/2019 07:48

I really like it. It was on my shortlist for DTs.

ilovemykids5 · 14/12/2019 01:14

Lovely

Spacebowlisback · 13/12/2019 23:08

It’s gorgeous. We were put off by her being called Erin every time she introduced herself (“Hi, I’m Merryn) but it’s just lovely.
