Aurora or Aurelia?

I like both but wondering whether they’re too hard for kids to pronounce themselves. Would also have issues with the various pronunciations of Aurelia (even me and dh don’t currently say it the same 🙄), though I think aurora is generally universally said the same.

DD1 is Lyra so I think they both fit well.

These are my two favourite names (other than the one I chose for my daughter) and both are absolutely beautiful
Definitely go for one of them rather than compromising because you are worried about people pronouncing either one, they will learn.
I think I'd go with Aurora if I had to chose today

Love Aurelia! So pretty. I would pronounce it Au-ray-lee-ah.

Not so keen on Aurora but it does go well with Lyra

Peachbubble · 11/12/2019 18:05

I prefer Aurora.

Don’t like Aurelia. I don’t like the “reeelia” bit in the name

LucyFox · 11/12/2019 17:38

Aurora
Aurelia will forever be correcting spelling/pronunciation

I've got a Lyra 🥰 I love both but I think aurora would be a bit much with Lyra already having a connection to the northern lights etc. Aurelia is so beautiful!

bridgetreilly · 11/12/2019 17:27

Aurelia.

PlantPotting · 11/12/2019 17:20

How about Coralie (I think that’s the right spelling but might need to check)

I prefer aurora and Aurelia though

hannahfaith · 11/12/2019 17:15

Aurelia is a favorite of mine.
Not as popular as Aurora and doesn't have as much of a princessy connection to a princess who didn't do a whole lot (sleeping beauty)

beanaseireann · 11/12/2019 17:07

I love Aurelie

custardbear · 11/12/2019 16:54

Aurelia is too much like areola to me ... love aurora though

Omashu · 11/12/2019 16:26

We considered Aurora and Aurelia for our little girl. I wouldn’t worry about whether they can pronounce it themselves as before long they will be able to. My daughters name is hard for kids to say but it always sounds cute when they try 😂

I liked the nicknames Auri/Ari/Ray/Raylia/Lia for Aurelia. My friend has a little girl born just after mine named Aurora and they call her Rory and Rora for short which I love 😍

PlantPotting · 11/12/2019 16:21

I love both Aurora and Aurelia

With Aurora you could use nickname Rory when she’s little- I know that’s not to everyone’s taste but I love it. I think you should stick with one of those two names ... but if not....

Here’s some suggestions:

Cora
Imogen
Sadie
Edith / Edie
Margaret /Maggie
Clementine/ Clemmie
Roxanne/Roxanna
Pearl
Delilah
Ottilie (Ottie)
Cora
Eliza
River
Winter
Jemima
Holly

Lyra and Vega. It would rock.

Lyra was my absolute favourite name of all time. Then DD looked nothing like it!

Aurora and Aurelia are both beautiful.

Arabella
Seraphina Wink
