Hi, I am not new to MN but have set up new account
I think my hormones are getting the better of me.

I have 3 other children 7,6 and 5. Traditional names but not twee or vintage . Think Grace etc
Have just found out I’m pg with very unexpected Baby number 4 (5y gap. Eeeek)
It feels like my first pregnancy all over again. It’s very early days but all I can think of is this baby. It’s consuming me !! I’m set on it being a girl even though it probably barely has genitalia yet :-)

Anyway, my mother is called Tina which I am not keen on but would like to nod to her in the name if it’s a girl so was thinking Tiana thoughts on that name please?
I am also seriously considering the name Navy for a girl as it’s small, cute and different. Am I nuts??
Also am slightly falling in love with Noa/ Noah for a girl which I also feel slightly bonkers for liking.
The only other names I really like are
Edie
Yvette
Tyra (banks will be old hat in 10/15y, no?)
Fiona
Tess

I can’t call a baby Navy can I??
Or Noa??
Speak some sense to a ravenous, over emotional 4th timer please

I don't know why but I really like the name navy.... never even thought about it as a name
But noa why not nova ?
Tess is a dogs name though I'd say but each to their own! Xx

RoseMartha · 15/12/2019 08:45

Please dont choose Navy.

Tiana is nice from your list
Or
Naomi

daisypond · 15/12/2019 08:19

Martina?
Celestina?
Agostina?
Valentina is great.
Edie is horrid

wowfudge · 15/12/2019 07:34

Nina doesn't mean little girl in Spanish - you're thinking of the word niña. Nina is a name in its own right in Spanish and means kindly.

pettswoodmumof3 · 14/12/2019 11:20

How about Nina? Means "little girl" in Spanish and nice, classic and very international name and sounds like "Tina" but much softer.

5LeafClover · 14/12/2019 11:17

Tess or Tessa are v cute. Clementine is pretty.

Probablythatone · 14/12/2019 11:07

Namechanged I had overlooked that! You’re right. Navy will be nothing unusual when this generation hit my age.

NameChangedNoImagination · 13/12/2019 14:34

i can’t imagine someone my age (pushing 60) called Navy.

Remember that 60 year olds in 60 years' time will be called Bear, Tillie-Rae, Isla, Fox, Poppy, Juno etc...

Probablythatone · 12/12/2019 21:26

You could call a baby Navy but that doesn’t mean you should. Way too much potential for teasing and I can’t imagine someone my age (pushing 60) called Navy.

I love Noa - biblical and cool but not too out there.
Also love Edith, Fiona and Tess.

Don’t know if you wanted other suggestions but any of these ?
Antonia/Antonie (Nn Tony or Tina)
Francesca
Thalia
Thea
Agatha
Tabitha
Cora
Martine (nn Tina)
Justine (nn Tina)
Tatiana (nn Tina)
Kezia

Letthemysterybe · 12/12/2019 20:55

Bess as a nn for Elizabeth?

MrsNoMopp · 12/12/2019 12:10

I like Edith/Edie, Ivy and Tess.

Naomi
Noella
Elsie
Leonie
Octavia, nickname Tavi
Nancy
Natalie

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 12/12/2019 09:40

The song, ‘In the Navy’ should put you off

First thing I thought of.

Noa is lovely ,Navy is not.

HamWater · 12/12/2019 09:34

Love Noa and Valentina!

MyNewBearTotoro · 12/12/2019 09:27

Valentina is much nicer than Tina.

I actually like Noa for a girl, I would spell without the h though as that is the feminine version. Alternatives could be Noelle/ Noella, Nova or Nora.

I also like Edie and Tess.

I actually quite like Navy but it is unusual and doesn’t offer a lot of shortenings/ other options. Maybe better as a middle name!

BaronessBomburst · 12/12/2019 09:14

Christina?

ilovetinsel · 12/12/2019 09:08

I also love:

Paloma
Alba
Lois
Belle
Violet
Xanthe

ilovetinsel · 12/12/2019 09:06

Yes @hannahfaith Grin

HerRoyalNotness · 12/12/2019 03:32

I love Navy actually!

How about corinthea, Thea for Short

NameChangedNoImagination · 12/12/2019 03:07

Love
Tiana
Navy
Yvette
Tyra

MummaOf2Nearly3 · 11/12/2019 21:22

Noa and Navy! Uncommon but beautiful. The rest are quite old fashioned, think about your child having the same name as one of their friends' mums.

justilou1 · 11/12/2019 20:47

I’m sorry, but now I have “We want you! We want you! We want you as a new recruit!” Stuck on my mind...

hannahfaith · 11/12/2019 19:21

I also really like the name Navy

Marcipex · 11/12/2019 18:56

I like Clementina and Bettina.
Not Navy though, there’s too much potential for teasing. If you wanted a blue name, Indigo and Violet are easier to pull off.

hannahfaith · 11/12/2019 18:51

@ilovetinsel
Tirana is also a place name - capitol city of Albania which is a beautiful country

goldenzog · 11/12/2019 18:40

I think Tina is very pretty! Short and cute, must be due back in fashion!
