Rumbelow · 09/12/2019 00:18

We seem to have a real thing for er-ending names for DD due early next year. On our tentative list right now are:

Piper
Clover
Rumer
Winter (due late Jan)
Aster
Vesper

As well as a few others, like Greta, Fern, Lumi, Rumi, Cleo.

Interested to hear your preferences and any other names we might like.

Thank you

I like Clover, Fern and Greta.

And I second a pp’s suggestion of Greer. Love this name.

Wheresthebiffer2 · 10/12/2019 22:05

Juniper

Wheresthebiffer2 · 10/12/2019 22:04

Fern is pretty,

have you considered Cameron?

ilovetinsel · 10/12/2019 21:52

Surely its Asta?

ilovetinsel · 10/12/2019 21:51

Greta & Cleo are nice.

Decisiontomake · 10/12/2019 21:43

I have an 8 year old Cleo, everyone comments on how nice her name is. Love Piper too which is why we named our puppy as I am definatly not having anymore children!

Mammyloveswine · 10/12/2019 21:38

Oh I do like fern actually

Mammyloveswine · 10/12/2019 21:37

Sorry op I don't like any

girlsname · 10/12/2019 21:33

I really love the name Piper but the French meaning put me off and I couldn't recover from
It

HotSince82 · 10/12/2019 21:14

Jen, not Je

HotSince82 · 10/12/2019 21:14

Minerva?

Out of all the -er names I do love Jennifer. Versatile nn too, Je, Jenny, Jenna.

MikeUniformMike · 10/12/2019 17:34

Piper - nn Pipes? Definitely not a classic
Clover - no.
Rumer - nice
Winter (due late Jan) - no
Aster - no
Vesper - Evensong?

Greta - no
Fern - like it
Lumi - loomy, loony
Rumi - roomy, ruminant
Cleo - nice

HuntingCuns · 10/12/2019 17:12

How I wish nobody had suggested Skyler. It is horrendous (female equivalent to Tyler, IMO).

MontanaSkies · 10/12/2019 14:06

Whoever suggested Cartier, it's not actually pronounced like the English "er" at the end...

Rumbelow · 10/12/2019 13:59

LOVE Pepper but the pig is a problem!

Also like Tiger in theory but I wouldn’t want to be called that myself so it wouldn’t be fair.

Honor is lovely.

Thanks for all the feedback! So helpful.

Lumi(e) is a brand of alarm clock, plus a bit wet sounding. Rumi is a traditionally male name.

Verily1 · 10/12/2019 08:33

Jennifer
Heather
Amber
Lavender
Asher
Ardeer
Emer
Parker
Tiger
Greer
Harper
Pepper
Skyler

20viona · 10/12/2019 08:31

Piper

Katfood · 10/12/2019 08:30

I really dislike them all. They all sound so unfeminine. Vesper sounds like wasp in German and Piper is an old man blowing into a bagpipe!

RhymingRabbit3 · 10/12/2019 08:28

Sorry i dont like any of them
The only girls -er name I like is Esther.

user1493494961 · 10/12/2019 08:26

The only one I would consider is Cleo, although if you have two girls they could be Lumi and Rumi.

Tillygetsit · 09/12/2019 22:58

I really like Silver. I like Aster too but think it may be shortened to Ass.

HuntingCuns · 09/12/2019 22:51

Hebe is a great name.

Please could everyone stop saying that Piper is a good idea? It's really not. All I can think of is bagpipes.

Nobody would be banging on about Harper now, if it weren't for the Beckhams.

Vesper is either a church service or a Bond Girl.

Winter is a season, and a lot of people (myself included) hate it. It might seem cute when you're pregnant, but it is a really bad idea once the hormones have abated (take this from someone who cried buckets while heavily pg with DC3 because DH vetoed Beau Boodle as a possible name combination).
