Hi, I'm looking for opinions!

If you heard the name Georgie would you think it would be a boy or girls name?

Thank you in advance!

Isn't there a song Georgie Porgy? Not sure if that's a boy or girl...

Skysblue · 03/12/2021 12:00

Girl

Blubells · 03/12/2021 11:59

Boy, nickname for George.

But could also be a nickname for Georgina.

Like Charlie, Georgie can be a nickname for either gender.

Leadust92 · 03/12/2021 07:31

I like Georgie for a girl. My daughter is called Billie. On the phone when I’m booking appointments they sometimes refer to her as he but there’s a few around. Billie Faiers, Billie Eilish.

Not sure why this ZOMBIE THREAD has been revived.

The baby will be 2 by now.

Classica · 30/11/2021 19:31

But I wouldn't be surprised to meet a boy called Georgie either.

Classica · 30/11/2021 19:30

Girl.

Because it reminds me of the film/song 'Georgy Girl'.

Pemba · 30/11/2021 16:12

Shouldn't really be a name in its own right, it is a common (often childhood) diminutive of George, also Georgina, Georgia etc. So could be either boy or girl.

It's cute, but a bit childish as the full name really.

resm · 30/11/2021 14:37

I would assume boy, nicknamed for George.

RuthW · 30/11/2021 12:21

I would think it was short for Georgina/Georgia/Georgette

starrynight21 · 30/11/2021 11:54

Georgie is a girl's name, or maybe if a boy was called George you might use the nickname Georgie. But it's only for little boys - if you're having a boy, remember that for most of his life he'll be a grown man, and Georgie wouldn't do him any favours.

ZOMBIE

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 30/11/2021 11:40

As a given name - girl, but fir a boy it just reminds me of 'It' I'm afraid!

AnFiadhRua · 30/11/2021 11:39

I know one and he's a boy. I like it.

I don't see why it's different from Jamie, Charlie, Robbie, Richie etc

Lolamoon123 · 30/11/2021 11:34

It can be either. I don’t personally like it much for a girl though, think it’s sweet on a boy. He always has the option to go by George in later life. Georgie is a little bit more refreshed and new.

Thefaceofboe · 10/12/2019 21:46

I’m Georgina nn Georgie Grin

hannahfaith · 09/12/2019 15:46

For Georgie if you're afraid of it coming across as a girls name I'd call him George and use Georgie as a nn

DramaAlpaca · 06/12/2019 22:17

Girl

RandDandC · 06/12/2019 22:15

Girl, I’ve only known one Georgie and it was a girl. Her full name I believe is Georgiana but I only ever heard her go by Georgie

Cbeebiesrehab · 06/12/2019 21:05

If I saw it written down I would presume girl.

Shouted out in a park-could be either.

BikeRunSki · 06/12/2019 20:51

I’d assume it was an diminutive of Georgina, Georgia or George, and wouldn’t assumed b or g from the nickname.

I know 2 x Georgina and 1 x George know as Georgie.

Grufallosfriends · 06/12/2019 20:46

Boy. Nickname for George.

Omashu · 06/12/2019 20:31

I’d think boy initially but I wouldn’t flinch if I heard it on a girl!
