Is Max too much of a dog's name?

I've finally decided on Max for my little boy, but I'm worried because it's the top name for male dogs! But it's the only name I really like bar Harrison, but that name rhymes with the surname so don't want to give him it!

I'm thinking Max William, though I might use my step-dad's name for his middle name.

I don't like the traditional names like Maxwell or Maximillian, just Max.

What do you think?

Max is fine, a good strong name.

Rex, on the other hand...

I know about half a dozen children called Max and two men. I don’t know any dogs with it as their name.

“Max” as a name in its own right is at number 30 in the charts so the public have clearly spoken that it is not a dogs name in their eyes!

I see it as a dogs name yes.

Thank you! Me too, I think it's a cool name, a cute name, a strong name and one that will get him through life! I just don't want the comments of 'That's such a dog's name!'

No I don’t see it as a dogs name at all. I love the name max and prefer it to Harrison

Max William is perfect
