Can't think of suitable boy name

OlderthenYoungerNow · 25/11/2019 13:15

Just that really.

I'm not a fan of biblical names - Joseph, Elias, Jonah etc.

Quite like classic names but concerned they are dull and they are 10 a penny - James, William, Edward

No 1970s names - Gary, Barry, Wayne 🤣

Or American ones - Harrison, Jackson, Reuben

There's names I consider great 'dog' names - Albie, Raffy, Oscar, Alfie..

Help!

Definitely a generational thing I think!

I've never heard of Andre the seal, my youngest was going to be Andre if she had been a boy! 😂

I really love Reese too

I def think you are overthinking about a third child. Especially if you’re not even sure you’ll have one. If you’re just picking names you like (eg Nate) then any letter will be fine for a third child’s names. Plus your partners name is a T name so it’s not like you’re all the same anyway.

I know a family of 4 children, the first 2 had same initials and the last two didnt. It honestly never occurred to me once until I thought about it now. A name feels like a big deal when you’re choosing one for a baby but it just becomes the child’s name once they hve their own personality doesn’t it. I really like Nate or Christopher (Kit)- so cool 😎 but not trendy cool in a way that will daye

My ex's all have lovely names which they've unfortunately ruined them for any future sons

Calum/Callum
Ross
Ewan
James is popular but so many nn - love Jamie as a stand-alone too
Christopher (love Kit as nn)

Sebastian?x

Our Robin was born in January, but would have been Robin no matter what month he came in. If we have another boy he’ll be a Jonah :)

Winkywoop · 25/11/2019 14:09

Alasdair (or a different spelling if you prefer!)

OlderthenYoungerNow · 25/11/2019 14:08

I've got an ex called Jesse too but I do like it. Peter, John etc... All too biblical for me!

Andre reminds me of the seal 🤣

I live Chester too. Again, husband has vetoed it.

@Flymetothestars, I worry about if we have a third. Then do I have three kids with N names, or do I leave one out of the pattern 🤣 I may be over thinking it! We prob won't even have a third, haha. I do love Nate though.

Nate
Kit
Eric
Aiden
Bobby
Seb
... Have all made the list!

I like Winston

Flymetothestars · 25/11/2019 13:51

I really don’t think another N name is too Kardashian btw. Nate is a strong choice.

MikeUniformMike · 25/11/2019 13:51

The run of the mill classic ones are fine. Choose one that hasn't been used for a while. David, Mark, John, Simon, Martin, Stuart, Richard, Peter... Royal names are usually a safe bet: Philip, Timothy (Anne's husband), Michael (of Kent, Tindall) ...
Family names can throw in some that you might like- names like Alan, Neil, Graham ...
Famous scientists/engineers/...

They may seem a bit boring but they might seem fresh on a youngster.

Dominic
Jonathan

I would have used Kit if my surname was different, it just wasn't right.

I love Leon, Patrick, Peter, Asher, David and Ellis.

OlderthenYoungerNow · 25/11/2019 13:45

Trouble with Nate, which I love, is that me and my daughter both have N names and I think it might be a bit kardashian to match?

My husband is Thomas!

Wilf falls in a dogs name for me, although I love it! I think it's cos we religiously listen to Liza Tarbuck and she had a dog called Wilf and now it's in my brain as a pet.

I like Robin! And if we make it to December, that'll be quite sweet I think.

Kit I love!

I'm a huge Bob Dylan fan (if anyone recognises my username from one of his songs) but my husband has vetoed it!

I had an ex called Miles.

Big fan of Seb/Sebastian!

Keep them coming! Some great ones here.
