I love Isobel, also like Isabel, but Isabelle is my least favourite as it’s a bit overly fussy

123Dancewithme · 27/11/2019 00:30

Isobel

Fifthtimelucky · 26/11/2019 23:24

I'm in the Isobel camp.

MrsNoMopp · 26/11/2019 20:11

Isabelle is the happiest spelling.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 26/11/2019 19:15

Isobelle

Isobel, but i’m Scottish.

I hate Isabelle. It’s too frilly (unless you are French!)

EmperorBallpitine · 26/11/2019 19:09

We used Isobel, as a nod to our Scottish forebears, and because I like non-frilly names

Justkeeprollingalong · 26/11/2019 19:07

As debated on threads elsewhere, it's a different name with quite distinct pronunciation.
Is- o- bel
Is- a-bel

Isabelle has too many letters!

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 26/11/2019 17:16

Isobel

My Isabel is 10 and the only one in her year, she goes by Izzy but for some reason it really annoys me when people spell it Issey

bridgetreilly · 26/11/2019 14:01

Isabel.

hanahsaunt · 26/11/2019 13:18

Isabel or Isobel. Not Isabelle.

Alarae · 26/11/2019 13:07

I am due in February and going for Isabelle, it's a name I have loved since I was little (nn Izzie).

I've never cared about name popularity and considering 'unique' is all the rage now, there will probably be dozens of Islas, Auroras, Theos etc in her school year as opposed to the simplistic names.

TatianaLarina · 26/11/2019 12:55

Isolde. Too many Isobel/Isabelles.

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 26/11/2019 12:25

Definitely Isabel, my daughters name, never even considered spelling it another way

aibutohavethisusername · 24/11/2019 23:12

Isabelle seems to be the most popular version these days.

CherryBathBomb · 23/11/2019 22:45

Isabelle - Belle for short!

TheSubtleArt · 23/11/2019 22:42

Isobel. Lovely name.

pigeononthegate · 23/11/2019 22:38

Isabel

user1493494961 · 23/11/2019 22:35

Isabel.

BrightonBB · 23/11/2019 22:34

Isabel

Palavah · 23/11/2019 22:30

Isobel

diddlediddle · 23/11/2019 22:26

Don't do it, there are one squillion of them.

However if you must Isobel is by far the nicest. As pps have said it is dignified and classic.

The other options are sugary and twee beyond belief. Isabelle is just dreadful.

Cookit · 23/11/2019 14:35

Oh Isobel a million times over.

Isabel as a second choice and Isabelle lastly.

Isobel is a traditional spelling and so much less fussy than Isabelle. Just like Annabel over Annabelle any day.

Redlocks28 · 23/11/2019 13:16

There are 15 girls with this name at my infant school this year!

Isobel
Isabel
Isabelle
Isobelle

That’s not counting any of the ones called Isabella!

I’d say the first spelling is the most common.

I used to really love this name but honestly I would steer clear now-it’s a nightmare in the Staffroom and assembly, knowing who people are referring to! Ok when they’re names on a page and you can see the spelling, but talking about them gets so confusing. They have become curly Isobel, Isobel sister of X, Isobel T, little Isabel, Isobel in Magpies class, Isobel who goes home for lunch etc
